oil pan received and paid for.
who wants to buy it?
Oh, John, is there a check valve in that box? I wasn't going to open it if there wasn't a reason to.

seeing as this is the powell discussion thread figured I'd mention this here.. Just upgraded from the Hardcore bar to the XXX bar. Took a couple trials to get tire pressures adjusted to where I like them with the new found stiffness, but overall its a great piece of equipment. I'm really getting to like how the car handles when setup for track days, although I have found that on "daily driving pressures" ~30-34 F/R psi the car gets pretty snappy in the steering response over the hardcore bar and it will actually oversteer slightly... so knowing that I just be a bit more careful with it on the street (not to say you cant just throttle out anyways, but you get the point).. but like I said, fantastic part to use when I have tire pressures dialed in a bit lower in the rear on track days
I'm on YYZ V1's and 235/40/18 BFG KDWs as well for what its worth to you all...

It's a misconception that the XXX (or any other) bar will make your car drift and oversteer. It (greatly) reduces the understeer characteristics of the Cobalt, giving it a more neutral behavior in aggressive turns. It also firms up the rear end of the car in terms of flex. I use the XXX bar for road racing; for auto-x I would definitely get the triple-x.
the rear bar keeps the front wheels working. think rear bar/ front effect( keeps both front wheels well placed and helps turn in) front bar /rear effect( keeps rear tires well placed and helps rear grip which hurts turn in)
the rear bar the way it is designed not only increases rear roll stiffness it changes the rear roll center ( google) that is something that increasing rear tire pressure of course does not do.
all you get from increasing rear tire pressure is an increase in sidewall stiffness and the risk that the car will "skip"at the rear, which in itself can be scary, Keep your foot in it, and the rear can dance all it wants you will be okay. Up to a point.
But with real good progressive rate springs ( ya, I mean YYZ) and the rear bar, the whole car comes alive.
It is hard to oversell the significant handling improvement of the hardcore rear bar. Hard also to oversell YYZ and a triple X or hardcore on the race track. Just listen to guys like Wangspeed ( thanks tohis griping about Pedders collapsing that I went and got Hyperco to make YYZ) and to Speedbuggy who has shattered all his personal best lap times at various tracks in the Chicago area. YYZ/Hardcore or xXx. For serious drivers ...
as a matter of fact I had a customer drop in today on his way down east for a holiday. He auto x 's in Ontario. I put the hardcore on his car. He drove it down the road a bit and then stopped and said "They said it would be good and I thought "ok" But this is amazing!"

So I broufht my car into the dealership last week, I thought I had a wheel bearing goin out. Turns out my CABs are toast which took out my alignment and then cupped the hell out of my tires.
I ordered new CABs from john and plan on replacing the in 2 weeks. Is I put the new powell CABs in and don't get my car aligned for a couple of weeks, would that screw anything else up?
Still haven't figueed out which tire I want to go with yet.

if you have not changed the alignment from new its a good bet it will be fine. its easy to check toe in is the only parameter to check. tape measure side to side to the same spot front of tire and rear of tire . 1/8 toe in total is stock. so 1/8 longer back side of side to side tire measurement compared to front

I see how it is.
Lots of awesome info in here!! Just read all 30 pages, and it was well worth it. Looks like some Powell parts will be my first mods to the car. Probably gonna start with the rotated mounts with and lnf rear mount. Starting to save up now. Can't wait to actually order.
I'll have some more questions here in a few when I'm not at work and can actually make a full post.

I am waiting on the parts to come in. I got the plan, the parts figured out I have to put it together and with respect I did say it was going to be a late October project. pc is always possible.
Hey John,
I have emailed Gloria 3 separate times about the check valve for my PCV system and have not heard anything back. I'd like to get it while everything is out of the car. Hope you can get back to me soon so I can get it in the car.
Btw the valves looked great after 5k miles with the PCV system, little to no buildup
