3/8" is indeed the right size. Autozone has the kit that has 1" all the way down to 1/4" with all the discs or whatever all different colors. Worked like a charm once I put enough muscle into it to pop the filter off.

At first I purchased the plastic kit, and it sucked. I went back to Advanced Auto and purchased a metal fuel line disconnect tool. Needless to say it worked like a charm
plastic quick disconnect tools ftl... me and my fuel filter battled it out for a good 30 mins my arm got soaked with gas so I guess the score is fuel filter 1 me 0... but the battle has just begun Im on a search for metal quick disconnect tools now
if your having problesm witht he plastic ones, you might have damaged lock prongs in side. i finaly ripped the bitch off. the prongs where fucked. the new one slides right one and off with the plastic clip

Could anyone post up...
1. What mileage(s) you changed your fuel filter
2. What brand of fuel do you fill up with
3. How dirty your filter was when removed (pics would be awesome)
I think this would be very helpful.
I'm at 58,000 miles and will be changing my filter this summer.

i went with ac delco filter
best way to describe it was the blackest coffee you can picture. it was disgusting.
sorry no pics tho
hardware store maybe? i think my dad got his at advanced. its soublesided. i dont know how the plastic ones didt fit. the 3.8 i bought from the store fit fine. if its not coming off just rip it off.
your replacing it right? the filter ont he car was the acdelco. prongs where fucked up and the quick release wouldnt work. so i pulled it off breaking the prongs from the filter. then the prongs slide off and its all good.
just put the new one on and your good to go

Advanced Auto or Auto Zone should have them .... I bought my metal disconnect tool at Advanced Auto.

Next I took the screw out the holds the filter onto the car.
Then I used one hand and started spinning the filter in up and down while pulling to the right at the same time....finally after doing that it came off.
I hope this makes sense...I'm writing this on my iPhone while at work.
