you sure you need the tool? they said I needed one on my escape and I ended up just using my fingers and a flat head screw driver.

**** idk its a tight space...I picked up the only metal tool kit they sold for this and the smallest tool is 1/2 which appears to be to large

not sure why the OP didnt put in the size tool needed...thanks

so 3/8 is the size I need...**** you metal tool kit. Time to hook the lines back up and re try another day...

3/8" is indeed the right size. Autozone has the kit that has 1" all the way down to 1/4" with all the discs or whatever all different colors. Worked like a charm once I put enough muscle into it to pop the filter off.

Well .... it did suck. I had to put a lot of effort into popping it off, but the new one clicks on easy as pie.

At first I purchased the plastic kit, and it sucked. I went back to Advanced Auto and purchased a metal fuel line disconnect tool. Needless to say it worked like a charm

i went with ac delco filter

your replacing it right? the filter ont he car was the acdelco. prongs where fucked up and the quick release wouldnt work. so i pulled it off breaking the prongs from the filter. then the prongs slide off and its all good.
just put the new one on and your good to go

Make sure u have the 3/8 disconnect tool all the way into the filter...that's was hard for me so I had to use both hands. Reached around so I could grab the tool with my finger tips (both hand) and use my thumbs to push down on the other end (2 fuel line end). I pulled the tool in as hard as I could.

Next I took the screw out the holds the filter onto the car.

Then I used one hand and started spinning the filter in up and down while pulling to the right at the same time....finally after doing that it came off.

I hope this makes sense...I'm writing this on my iPhone while at work.
