Get another wire tap, or splice in and wrap with electric tape.

Actually they're more of a burnt orange colored wire with a black stripe
They're are about 20-25 wires in there though, kinda looks like a snake den.

I would imagine any hardware store would have wire taps. I actually believe that is what hack did when he intalled his. He picked some up at a store rather than use what was in the package. personally, i took a 1/2 inch of insulation off the end of the shift plus wires, about a 1/4" section off the tranny wires (be careful and dont snip the wire) and wrapped the shift plus around the tranny wires. Then i used the wire tap to hold it all in place and taped over them to seal it up.

i was thinking of that, but not sure how well i'd do removing the cover from the wire in the car. don't want to cut too deeply

I used a razor blade and just took real short cuts along the length... never cut straigh down and in.

i've cut wires before for computer things, just never done it in the middle of a wire before. I doubt it will be that hard. Just need to take my time. Have to go to work soon, but tomorrow morning I will be right on it.

got it done and installed. Dropped the other piece that was used for connecting wires and couldn't find it, just used and exactoknife and some tape and worked. Didn't know if I had enough contact area between the wires. Went to walmart with the gf, left it stock, didn't want to see anything blow up. Just now dropped it to level 1 and I guess it works, It's really noticable just driving around here like 30-40. Can't wait to see what it will be like when i open it up all the way.

It says i can't give rep twice to the same post, so i guess i did step 8 before lol. Thanks for the how to. I wouldn't have even attempted it unless this was out. Never done work on a car before so it was a little nerve racking. Just need to find a nice place to mount it.

Okay check this out.
Tilt up your steering wheel all the way, Push the B&M switch into the small area between the bottom of the steering column, and the lower dash, the slightly tilt the steering wheel back down to sandwich it in place. Lemme get you a pic

Here ya go!

Has anyone found any cons to this mod? The price is awesome compared to other options but according to the ordering site it's still "in testing". Just want to get the facts before ordering

No cons from me. I installed mine about 2 months ago and I LOVE it. I honestly feel a little depressed while driving if I'm not driving in stage 2 lol

I would say no cons driving wise and I have had it in for about a month. My shift plus doesn't always seem to switch into stage 1 all the time, occasionally I need to squeeze it together (on the two long sides) and then it turns on. I might move it so that it is a tighter fit somewhere. But other than that... it is amazing.

I went to B&M's website and they say under 'Application':
70380 - For GM rear wheel drive and 4wd trans code MT1 or M30 (RPO code found on sticker in glove box) '93-'98 Suburban, Tahoe, Blazer (C/K, S/T), pickup (C&K) 1500, 2500, 3500, Impala, Camaro, Firebird & '94-'98 Corvette.
70381 - For Ford rear wheel drive and 4wd vehicles trans code D,E,P,U,H,L & V (found on plate on driver door post) '97 Expedition/Navigator, '95-'97 Explorer, '95-'97 pickup F-150, F-250, '94-'97 F-350, '94-'97 Lincoln Mark VIII.
I'm looking into this for my Strat and the price is what?

just a thought...i got mine today and plan on installing it tomorrow after work....i think an awesome place to mount it would be in that little compartment that also houses your trunk release. its never seen unless you want access to it, and there should be plenty of space in there

now all i need is to install my transmission cooler and im all set on my transmission work....and fully prepped for my turbo

I thought about that, but I had a couple other ideas of what I wanted to do with that area so decided not to. Plus under the steering wheel gives a nice quick flip to the next upstage if you dont wanna drive on stage 2 all the time. it would def fit. you would probably just need a little velcro to hold it in place.

a note to hack and to anyone else trying to chirp....im sure you guys know you get a firmer 1-2 shift in L than you do in D....so i tried driving in L with the shiftplus on 2, and i chirped VERY easily, and i have MUCH better tires than the stock continentals. so all looking to chirp your automatics...theres your clue

damn just installed and did a run in stage II. SCARED the crap out of me, wasn't expecting that hard of a shift haha Chirped the hell out of the tires. Is there a way though to lessen the metal "clanking" besides going to stage I i know it sounds like a dumb question but to lessen of jerking of the car from P to D, wound poly trans mounts help at all?
