Hey hack i did a little test and you can wait until you are in D at a stop you can put it into Stage I or II so you don't feel the lurching when you go from P to R to D or just P to D (you get the idea)

and be sure to add in the how to that the red wires with a black stripe may in some cases be orange wires with a black stripe like mine was

its red...it would only be orange if it faded with time...but im confused what your saying about changing stages at a stop...you mean if your in D at a stop, yu can change to st1 or turn it off?

when at a stop in D you can go from off to stage 1 or from stage 1 to stage 2. Some people thought you could only engage the stages in P and doing it that way causes hard lunges when going from P to R or to D. This just saves you from looking retarded in a parking lot when reversing out of a space lol But remember in order to go down in stages you must turn the car off . About the red wires, mine really weren't faded i followed them up to the fuse box and plus the black stripe on it was dark as night but you might be right though. oh well it still works.

either some of you are colorblind....WE'RE colorblind......or GM used a different colored spool of hose when they made these wires. Because mine were definitely more of an orange than red color. Kinda dark orange, but definitely not red.

While the car is running you can always move up a stage. While you can still turn the switch to a lower stage, it will not be affected until the next time the car is turned on. when I flip to stage 2 i usually do it quick and back down to stage 1 so taht next time i turn my car on, it is back to the setting I like

starting 06 they stopped using a red wire and started using orange. SOOOOOO the basic story is look for the red OR orange wire wrapped with the black one

check your connections and make sure the metal clip is fully through the plastic sleeve around your wires

give the box a squeeze along the long sides and push the button in a little more. make sure its making a connection... mine did that for a little bit, then i just wedged it a little tighter under the steerying wheel

mine is acting crazy i checked my connections and they seemed fine messed with the box got it tucked away tight and still doin the same thing i get a slicht lurch when going from P to D but when i turn the B&M OFF and then shut off the car turn it back on and go from P to D i still get a lurch like it wont turn off. somtimtes it seems like it is always on stage one or somthing when i get on the gas i really dont even feel a difference no matter what stage i have it set at.

Do you turn the key completly off and remove it? And did you hard wire the controler or use the wire quick connectors?

Pretty sure you have figured it out by now, but mine was an early model 06 but it was made in late 05, checked the sticker in the trunk under the carpet, my friend put the Shift+ on his 05 LT and his was orange but his build sticker says 10-20-05 so maybe somewhere around that time they switched from red to orange?

And if you want to know where the sticker is pull up the trunk carpet/wood insert and mines on the left side of the spare tire slot.

We'll I'm not to sure about the stages and why they are doing that, maybe unhook your battery for a few minutes and allow the ECU to reset. And I would hard wire with some butt connectors or something else because after a while the quich connectors will cut through the wire completly and the wire will basicly be in two pieces and well no connection, I have seen it many times on the rides I work on at work from the manufacture, I'm a ride tech so I'm not just blowing smoke but how ever you like.

Hope this will help you out a little and if nothing else contact B&M.

Put mine in today, it's not hard, agree with Kloppster the worst part is putting the rubber piece back in! haha

Instead of going under the steering wheel I hid my switch here

It's inside where the trunk release switch is

I don't know how anyone could possibly want this thing to shift any harder, in the second stage it kicks like crazy. The first one is a little harsh but not to bad. Overall it's a good mod!
