Drivetrain: How-To: Install B&M Shiftplus
After many stuck keys and a twice-drained battery, conclusion is this has NOTHING to do with the shift+, and it's most likely a simple mechanical problem. Now I can take it to the dealer and ask them for a new key cylinder + battery.
finally ordered mine Hah about time right?
(thanks CPP
) too bad as soon as it arrives im going to be taking it apart
hmm i wonder why they made it like that, having that big box with only a switch in there, good to know tho thanks
Actually, you're right. I took mine apart because I wanted to relocate the switch. It took me about 45 minutes to break down the casing because it is pretty much just covered in epoxy. The big casing where the switch is actually contains nothing but the switch soldered to three wires. It looks like the IC or resistor doing the actual modification is farther down the wire in the small plastic casing.
Yea, found that out for myself after only 3k miles, probably get NGK's or some new brand where they pulse, can't think of the name right now? C3 I think? But the next oil change is within a few hundred miles so that's when imma change them, also thinking of goin with Royal Purple, just need to find out how the switch would work from Mobil1.
has anyone ever messed up there tranny with the B&M shiftplus??
WHY I ASK??
cuz i really want to try this out its sounds like a cheep mod but i dont know anyone who has done this mod to a auto before

Well a lot of us has had it for a while now, and some keep it on all the time, and they say no bad affects yet.
Just in case anyone's interested, the dealership replaced the shifter under warranty and fixed the problem.
Dude... u ordered from cobaltperformanceparts.com ?... u do know that hes not in buissnes anymore right? i ordered an injen CAI on the 14th an found out just las week that i got screwed on it...
im having issues switching between stages, even with a restart it sometimes will not go to what i set it to. also at times if i start in 0 and go to 2, it wont want to shift into the next gear. very wierd.
there was only 1 light blue wire, but i think there were 2 orange, 0 red. maybe i soldered to the wrong orange??

ya the original post in this thread said, Red/Orange wire, so i hooked it to the solid orange since there is no red and it went bonkers it was funny yet nerve racking, i didnt want to break anything
went back and read Every post slowly and found one on page 3 or 4 that said Orange with Black Line and Light Blue with white line
that really helped ^^
not to mention my wiring harness didnt look the same as the pictures, I had a ton of extra crap so it took awhile to even find the right set of wires, then I accidentally cut a light blue thin wire, i crimped it too hard and it ripped. good thing im pretty good with wiring as i have done a lot of custom computer lighting and electronics
so after a good 3hrs of frustration and test runs, I finally found the right wires, put the switch where the pictures showed, i like that spot, its nice and snug and easy to reach, yet hidden away. sleeper ftw
but wow stage 2 rocks, i get a real nice chirp from 1-2, i didnt mean to, but i got a ton of random people walking down the streets looking at me. when i stopped for gas one guy came up and talked to me, he has a 2.2 also and loved my cobalt
i removed the dumb side molding, it looks amazing. just gotta fix that one small chip, oops. that double sided tape can kiss my ass, it was so hard to get off. the molding came off easy, but the tape took me a good 2hrs of my using my fingernail to pick away at it. i didnt see a better way, i remember seeing a post here but i couldnt find it and i was in a bit of rush, i thought it'd be real easy. not even 2bottles of Goo Gone helped me, it only helped with the tiny bits once the tape was all gone, little residue left on the door still, the goo gone got rid of that
so ya, crazy day for me
