There's a chance the 150K mile SS might be getting traded in soon, so I'm putting it out there that if any of you are looking for winter wheels, I have a set of 16" Steelies with winterforce Snow tires on them. They are good enough for this winter I think.
Not sure what I want for them yet, and not even 100% I'm unloading the SS...

BUT... let me know.

Alicia! Glad to hear you're getting out on track again. I saw Melissa @ the PVGP event and realized that I've not seen you guys in a while.
Hey stranger.

Whatcha thinking about getting?

I'm definitely getting out a little more. I've done 2 track days so far this year, thinking about getting another one in before the winter wheels go on the car. Was supposed to run Watkins Glen at the end of October, but the track day got cancelled.

I haven't really thought about auto-x. I'd be DEEP into street mod, just not sure whether or not it'd be worth it to run.

Well... in case you've not kept up to date... There's a new SM class... SMF that is for FWD SM cars. That could be fun

I MIGHT do a couple track days next year, but my co-driver ( Cousin Ryan in the SM WRX ) and I are really making a big push for next year on the national side of things.

Getting data aquisition, more wheels, more tires, Koni SA's and maybe some exhuast stuff.

I am looking to go back into a truck I think... 1500 Chevy or GMC. I've made a few connections to get some extra $ off, and they really want to unload the 09s.
Maybe happen within the next week or so.

No I didn't know about the new class. That might be fun! I've gone from a stock car to a car about on par with Wes' old orange one.

Let me know when you're thinking of heading out to BR. It's definitely a fun day!

Ooooh, I kinda figured you might be looking at a truck. Good luck with that, let us know what you end up with.

I'm under the impression you can rent helmets there?! I'm planning to do the "follow the leader laps" as well as the flat out laps with an instructor. I have the pamphlet in my car and it doesn't mention anything about a flat out segment that does NOT have the instructor ride along with you. If there was a way to drive it solo...that would be even more fun.

I'm calling it now Julius...me and you grudge match at the flashlights. That way you'll have an idea of just how much quicker your modded T/C is over my stock SS. I know for sure I won't win lol.
You're on! The thing that sucks about having a modded T/C on stock tires is that you can't get any friggin traction! If I stomp on the gas...the tires will spin every time. New stickier tires should fix that though, along with some rotated trans mounts and an engine mount. What time do you think you're going to be at BeaveRun?

You MUST have an instructor ride with you until you are signed off to run solo, which takes about a dozen flat out days with an instructor. In all honesty, I've driven it both solo and with an instructor and it's actually BETTER with the instructor. It's not like a driver's ed instructor, they actually encourage you to push the limits of the car once you've shown them you're capable of handling it.
shoulda came to gay ass drag racing. the return lane was the track. it was 150% epic ******* win.

Just putting it out there...

As stated last week or so, I MIGHT be getting rid of the Slowbalt. I have the Enkei EVO 5 wheels on it right now, and if I DO unload it, I might just throw the winter wheels on it since no one sounds interested in the steel wheels and snow tires.

Anyone local that's interested in them for a couple bucks let me know. Like I said, I'm not 100% certain the car is gone, but if I do, I'd rather get some local people the wheels.

How much are you thinking about selling them for?

The steelies are 16"s and they fit fine over the stock brakes.
The snow tires are winterforce's from Tire Rack. Back in the day I paid $600 for them ( wheels & tires )... They have one winter left ( in my eyes of MY driving ) depending on how much you drive and where. They have some cupping and are noisy, but never got stuck last winter... they have winters of 06,07 and 08 on them.

Alicia... I'm open to decent offers on the Enkeis ... I paid something like $1500 for them with tires back when I got them. I'm not looking for alot for them IF I get a truck this week or next. If I got a couple hundred for them I'd be happy. They're not perfect, but not bad for 70-80K miles on them.

How much in a ballpark for the steelies with winter tires? I have 17's with all-seasons, but if it's really cheap, I'll definitely keep it in mind..

eh, I dunno... Let me think about it.

All depends on how the dealer treats me with the trade in on it. If they're going to take good care of me, I'll sell the winters... if they try to bone me, then the Enkeis are going to be sold.

Ok... so got the car appraised @ a dealer today...

back in March of 08, I had 93K miles, and the best any dealer would give me was $5500 or $6000

Now, with 151K miles, they offered me $5000 and were pretty agressive about getting my sale.

I told them I needed about $2000 more off the truck, and their GM said "We'll do what it takes to get your business "

SO... have one more truck to check out... the only things I wanted that the truck didn't have was the pacakge with remote start, buletooth and homelink.

Thats a very good price IMO Brian. I bet they buy it and sell it back to GM for durability testing. Good Luck!

That's a pretty good deal Brian, good luck with the purchase.

I've made an aquaintance with Caddilac ( was with Corvette team ) that has been giving me some pointers, and we talked about GM buying my car back...lol She said that the car is out of it's cycle now so other than "wow, we built a tough car" there's not much they'd get out of it... lol

Yeah, I'm heading to KR today after work to check one more truck out, but most likely will get the GMC, even though it doesn't have everything I want. I dunno..

I'm doing ok... been working and travelling alot. Girlfriend that lives 500 miles away tends to keep me away much of the time when I'm not racing.

as stated in the posts, probably trading the Cobalt in on a truck.

What truck are you getting Brian? Are you going to get a diesel, or a half ton?
