aside from the picture being too dark with those settings, if your shutter speed is too high you'll lose the panning blur and the rolling wheels..best to keep it under 125th.

Depends on desired effect and won't necessarily be too dark in sunlight

His exposure is great, but you want to raise the shutter speed way too fast and then underexpose by another 4 stops to 5.6 A general rule of thumb is 1 iso bump to 1 aperture stop.

all with trial and error lol. My buddy actually took the pictures and he has absolutely no clue what he is doing. I just set the camera up and told him to take as many photos as he could. Everyone gets lucky.

My first real attempt at "photography". Got ahold of my parents camera, a Nikon Coolpix P90, for a summer trip to NYC. Here's a few of my favorites.

What are you guys using for editing software? Also, uploading photos? I see flickr, not sure what it is exactly. My wife was big into photography in highschool and shes getting back into it, I bought here a Canon T3 this last week.

some use primarily the camera (settings/lens)

post editing can be photoshop and lightroom

or whatever they find out there

flickr is a better version of photobucket

Alright, I figured its mostly all in the camera settings. My wife's the one that knows whats going on not me lol. I am trying to learn though slowly, finding it takes a lot of practice.

i looked at a lens today that i hinted my wife could get me for xmas.

canon ES 50mm 1.8 AF II

$135CDN

cheap and the guy took a few depth of field shots to show me the difference between it and my 18-55mm. i would like to get a 1.8 for depth of field and to get crisper images. was a little hesitant about buying that cheap of a lens but the guy at the shop said it takes great pictures for the price if you know how to use the camera properly.

anyone have any experience with the lens or is it recommended by anyone here?

don't...just invest in a good external flash. I'm using a 430ex - immediately tell the difference even if you don't yet know how to use it. But once you start mastering fill and bounce lighting, it makes your pictures much more realistic and slr-quality like

I use this lens in my arsenal..amazing quality for it's price. You'll want to keep your aperture at 2.2 or more if you really want something crisp but either way, it's very big aperture and you can't be a photographer without a 50mm or a 35mm in your bag Here's an unedited, untampered picture during a tournament last week inside a diffused light gym with it. Shot at f 2.5 1/100th 800iso with my 50mm.
