if it goes for less than 3k i would be surprised. not worth more than maybe 2200 imo but someone will pay a premium to have this first plus they are out of stock right now so even if you bought just a regular efr you would have to wait

So if I read other threads correctly, this prototype will be the only bolt-on EFR offered by ZZP, production or otherwise, ever? If so that really sucks and this thread should be renamed to "ZZP builds the biggest let-down ever!"

No. It's the only one available until we have a production run completed.

No offense dude but even if they don't make a production run it wouldn't be a let down. I don't think you realize the extent of what having a legitatimate casted housing is like, not to mention the efr turbos are on a crazy back order. They did something good with this setup.....and to be honest they hit the nail on the head with it because most cobalt owners are the biggest cheap asses and fail to spend a buck when it counts.

would it not of been easier/faster to just create a manifold and downpipe to work with the standard housing on the EFR?

I can. Only seen a few cobalts with the extent of work that a couple guys here minus matt and Ryan @ zzp. Whyyoumadson and scythe snake are the two cars I believe are the nicest ones here. No offense by any means to anyone but I know Ryan has a good chunk of money in his car and matt was in modified mag.

bottom line is.... theres a few cars here that have a lot of time, money, blood sweat and tears put into them. the guys from zzp, myself, ryan(scythe snake) and a few others.

like i said im tired of hearing people complain about the price of things... you guys would be eaten alive if you were on the evo or sti forums. the prices from ALL the vendors here....even the most expensive still arent as expensive as some of the stuff built for other cars. so if everyone wants to bitch and moan about piddly stuff like that i would pay to see you guys go out there take classes to fabricate, do mechanical, and everything and do what ryan and matt at zzp, myself and the guys at pwerks, scythe snake, and a few other guys who have their time invested do on a daily basis and then talk your non sense.

theres not much difference between putting this turbo on and an actual turbo kit. biggest difference in the manifold. zzp put quite a bit of their time into making this and whatever price it brings is what its gunna bring. if a production run never comes out then oh well dont hate on them for it. buy a turbo kit. theres complications with things sometimes that you cant control. matt already said their will be a production run so just hold your horses and wait. things take time.

cobalt stuff is pretty cheap... evo and sti guys are dumbasses to pay what they pay for parts... btw B&G or on3 turbo kit's for a foxbody mustang will make like 500hp and is el cheapo if were wanting to talk about cheap stuff

that's why i just gotta laugh when all these kids want a turbo kit and parts and **** for nothing. look at how much it is to mod a newer v8 or almost any other car. you're not saving hundreds putting the money into a cobalt it's gonna be thousands and crazy bang for the buck for what you get outta it. bunch of 16-20 yr olds that expect the world handed to them in a little easter basket and you have most of the cobalt population lol.

which is why i think a lot of people chose the platform....its a performance for your dollar thing. most owners will be content with bolt on performance in the lower to mid 300hp range. few will take it beyond that.

people then don't want to pay more than "the going rate" for a particular type of part. downpipes used to cost 300 from just about anyone. then new competitors entered the game and prices fell. now nobody will pay 300 for a downpipe when they can get one for less than 200. with the efr if the price is right it will be on everyone's car. if they want 3100 like it went for last night then people will seek alternative solutions. in our economy people don't buy a house for 200k if they can go to the next street over and get the same house for 142k.

i know it costs to play and at some point i plan on dropping 10k or more on my car but im not going to pay more than something is worth.

exactly. i took my car above and beyond just like a few others and in all honesty i do love the car. sure theres better options out there but it would have come at double the price of what i put into the cobalt.

people just need to quit complaining. you get what you pay for and it comes at a price. my rear end in the camaro was close to 5 thousand alone.... and people complain about a turbo kit becuase more then 4k lol or a motor build costing 8-10k...step into the v8 world and if you wanna go fast with the best of the best expect 25k+ for a stout motor

25 k for a built v8 I bet not unless it a nelson racing engine. 3k for a rebuild kit for 400 Pontiac plus 500 for a good block 2k for built heads port polished. The 3kcar for fuel injection. so about 9k for 900+hp motor.

Maybe 25k for a hole powertrain setup.

Plus I have put 4k or more into the cobalt. So I have been pushing my car on the stock engine. I do know you have to pay to play. But if I going to pay 4k for a single turbo then I would want to be over 600 hp and not be driving on the street. Just my opinion.
