**** man, sorry to hear that. Anything in particular that caused it? or just too much boost. I'm trying to see how long my stock motor lasts, but I have a set of forged rods on the way, another block, crank, forged pistons, ARP main studs, head studs, nuetral balance shafts, and some other goodies sitting in the shop just waiting to be assembled when the stock motor eventually lets go

There is no way you over powered the rods. Most likely something with the bearing. Either put in crooked/wrong or rod caps were too tight/loose.

Im thinking it might have been when we put the rod bearings back in...I wont know until I get a better look. I think it was definately build related and not too much boost or anything

Salvage out those neutrals, maybe even pistons. We can just JB Weld the block, patch her up.

I think I'm just gonna send my motor out to a professional for assembly, never done an ecotec before only sbc's. don't want to break some expensive parts

My car and Al's car run find, and I beat the **** out of mine. Al takes his past 8k when possible. Hopefully Dan finds out what caused this.

I just can't wait to get the damn motor finished. Been waiting on rods for a while now, finally found a set and they should be on the way. Once they are in, I"ll order the new bearings, and probably the Bates oil pump gear, send out the cams, have my friend clean up the head. and it's gonna be fun times

Wes and Als car is fine cause they aren't running an insane amount of boost.

A 2.5 pulley doesn't make 30lbs of boost, but I don't know what he was running at the time of destruction.

Dan was running the normal 20lbs. Thats why I say he wasn't overpowering anything in the motor. It was a flaw in the build most likely. If Dan tears her open tonight, we shall know.

Given, he said he was doing a 140+ run and was holding a sustained high RPM, but it shouldn't be anything the motor couldn't handle.

the fun begins when the boost gauge reads above 25.

I just put it up on jackstands...whatever it was it happened on the front of the motor. Near the passenger side, above the oil pan, below the intake manifold. Thats all I can see right now...and afaik there isnt anything that runs oil thru there. Least externally and can leak.

Either #1 rod, or something with the neutrals, in the timing area. I put the bearings in, and you tightened/TQ'd them. I know the bearings were perfect. Like everything I do
