Interesting setup.

Didnt you ever learn that you tighten bolts from the center out, or in a criss cross pattern. You never just go around the perimeter in a circle.

I don't have the dough for a killer chiller yet. I'm just trying to break 12's with this setup right now. I already have more cooling mods than anyone else. But the killer chiller and a Harrop TVS is definitely in the future.

Josh told me it's going on sale at GB price this weekend but I haven't seen a GB thread or anything yet. If I don't sell my car by the end of the year then I'll probably go the TVS route as well. I've already talked to Wicked and he's gonna hook me up with a good tune. Figured he'd be one of the best to do it since he's running the TVS also.

Good luck with the 12's man. Make sure you get plenty of vids! I'll be going the 2.8/60's route this month sometime now that it's cooled off a good bit down here by the coast...

Oh, most definitely will get lots of vids. I just hope that I can make it to the track before it closes. Right now, the soonest I'll be able to make it is the 15th or 17th, and that's only if my job lets me off. I'm going to try!

GOT THE CAR RUNNING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Sounds ******* SWEET!!!!!! I still need to remount my meth pump and put the bumper cover back on. But the supercharger whine is SOOOOOO loud now. Plus my downpipe just came in, so thats cool. I'm going up to a friends shop tomorrow to have it put on. He's doing it for FREE. So that's cool.

Just thought I'd give an update. I'll have vids later tonight! It's raining right now.

Also, I'm going wednesday to KC to get Bry (Area47) to tune me and I'm going to go ahead and hit the track up as long as it doesn't rain or anything.

BTW, I updated my VBGarage as I'm not really waiting to install anything anymore. Only thing I didn't do was pocket port the head. I kind of ran out of time. I'm not discouraged though, I still think the car will perform great with the new mods!

2006 Rally Yellow Cobalt SS Supercharged
air box mod
CXRacing Heat Exchanger
Cooling Mist water/meth Injection
42lb injectors
Single pass Ported Intake manifold
Pacesetter header

Custom Ice Box with Opt. B (Hatrickstu mod)
Area47 tune
Motor and transmission mounts (DIY)
2.5" cutout
16"x7.5" rims
26"x10.5"x16" Mickey Thompson ET Streets
Wingless FTW!

That manifold looks pretty crazy. I'm not sure there's enough room under the hood to get that to fit. And I'm not sure that it will actually perform as thought up. I'm curious to hear the results though!

Wow... So I just watched your video and I'm liking what I watched. But 2/10's of a second away from your goal. Do you think you'll be able to squeeze that outta your car next go around? With a 1.9 60 ft time, I'd say it'll be pretty tough. I didn't hear any clutch slippage, no tires breaking traction, no bad shifts. I did notice you bumped the rev limiter in second but surely that won't make any difference. What RPM did you launch at? Do tell do tell.. I'm curious.

The cutout is really loud, but it sounds pretty awesome. Now I know the difference between a turbocharged car with a cutout and a supercharged car with a cutout... Is it electronic?

no, I didn't bump the rev limit at all. I did spin the tires off the line. I spun for like the first 30ft out of the hole, and still managed to get a 1.9 sixty. The car has a lot more in it. I'm trying to get ahold of a wideband right now so I can see what the AFR is up top. I picked up .4 in the 1/8th from just a 2mph gain (which I think should be more mph) and then just held that .4 gain in the back half for a total of 4mph gain. WTF? So I'm going to check out the tune.

For anyone else that hasn't seen it though, here are my timeslips and vids....

Mods:
2006 Rally Yellow Cobalt SS Supercharged
air box mod
CXRacing Heat Exchanger
Cooling Mist water/meth Injection
42lb injectors
Custom Single pass Ported Intake manifold
Pacesetter header
custom downpipe
Nate's 2.9 pulley
Custom Ice Box with Opt. B (Hatrickstu mod)
Area47 tune
Motor and transmission mounts (DIY)
2.5" cutout
16"x7.5" rims
26"x10.5"x16" Mickey Thompson ET Streets
Wingless FTW!

also, the cutout is not electronic. I launched at a little over 5K rpms.

now other news, I think the single pass manifold is a great idea. I'm able to maintain and hover right around 100degrees IAT's with all my cooling mods. That's only about 10 degrees more than when I was on stock pulley with just h/e and meth. So I think a single pass manifold is well worth it.

as for porting the manifold. I dunno. I don't know if the cost is worth it. I mean, I added a pulley, header, catless dp, more cooling mods, and slightly ported the intake manifold for only a 4mph gain overall? Weird. I'm getting a wideband to check it out. I think the tune is rich up top. So stay tuned, more to come. I think the car has a 12 in it.

wideband will help tremendously. it should be a must with any build project.

you will probably see a lot more than 4mph gain with fine tuning

yea, area47 flashed my tune in. But we didn't have a wideband. he says the tune is good. But I want to be sure. 4mph just wan't a lot for the type of mods I put on the car.

I will assure you leaning it out more is not going to get you what you are expecting. Even if your a/f ratio is in the 9s, you are not going to be gaining that much power out of it. Swap brakes with a regular balt, throw on some 24.5X8.5X15 slicks and get the times you want. The brake swap will be giving you money because I can almost guarantee you will find someone willing to make the swap. Then sell your rims and slicks and get something smaller.

You got that wideband from Brian, what does your a/f ratio look like?

his wideband don't work. But that brake swap idea is very intriguing. I may talk to switt on NESS about that. Putting some 15's on would be great cause I could drop slick sizes and OWN. Probably come out cheaper than going to a 4.45 final drive too. Thanks for the heads up john.

What AFR and timing were you commanding on your recent runs after you were tuned?
