I'm not dropping to a small enough slick to have to shift to 4th. I already figured up the gears, and with a 24.9" tall slick, I'd have to trap 116mph to max out 3rd gear, not that's still shorter than my stock rims and tires. I don't think I'll trap that high until I'm using a built head and a TVS. So it'll be a while.

But if I did drop to a 22" tall slick (I may try it out next year just to see) I would have to shift out of 3rd at 103mph. So I would definitely be in 4th gear crossing the line. It's something to look into, but I don't know if it will be too much. It may take away too much top end pull.

ok, well, I've spend that past few days searching the entire site and asking other members of our Top 10 fastest stock blower cobalts and it seems most everyone is using a 26" tall slick or 25.7" tall drag radial like Nitto 555r's and such. So I am pretty sure now that my tune is somewhat rich.

But I am still planning to sell my slicks and try out a 24.9" Hoosier DOT drag radial. I didn't find ANYONE running that small of a diameter in tire and I think I'm going to go ahead and venture to try it out. Worst case scenario, I can sell them and go back up to a 26. But I really think I'll gain quite a bit from dropping well over 1" in tire diameter. We'll see though, I need proof before I speculate too much.

single pass manifold info....

actual Data: My intake manifold, mildly ported and custom single pass setup. I also have CXRacing Front Mount in line with the stock h/e and a ice box/opt. B and meth. My IAT's at the drag strip tonight were 104 sitting in the staging lanes and didn't go over 113 at the top of 3rd.

I later logged a pull on the interstate, started at 88 and didn't go over 109.

I am also running a 2.9 pulley.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I don't have any logs or DATA proof for you, sorry. But I just wanted to say, that I've been our racing all night, and after every single run, and even after a 40min. drive home and racing like 5 times on the interstate, my INTAKE MANIFOLD was like ICE to the touch. Literally. ******* COLD as ice. 50 degree weather all night. My ice box tank was freezing cold liquid as well. My intake was freezing cold, and even the supercharger inlet portion was freezing ice cold. Only the rotor section of the supercharger housing was mildly warm.

Another update! Just drove around for about an hour, stop and go traffic, got on the highway to come how crusing at 60mph. No WOT pulls and no using meth. Pulled up in the driveway, intercooler fluid in the ice box was ice cold, intake and throttle body was ice cold. Supercharger was warm at best and the intake manifold was mildly warm. Only thing HOT to the touch was the actual engine itself. Pretty bad ass.

Winter Update!!!!

Winter mods are planned:

-LS4 Throttle body (before and after dyno testing)
-Ported/polished M62 Supercharger with silencer holes plugged
-3" CAI
-Adjustable Cam Gears
-Lots of tuning
-24.9" x 8" Hoosier Drag Radials
-2 step/wot box
-OTTP rotated motor mounts

Aiming for 12's of course and I look forward to challenging hatrickstu's times back and forth all season next year. Lots of track time will be spent at the 1/8th mile and I plan to visit the quarter mile at least once a month. I expect the car to do at least a 7.9 in the 1/8th mile and break into the 12's easily. Should be able to use the 2 step to make launching easier and more aggressive. Should be a difference launching under full boost in the peak tq of my power curve rather than just revving and slipping the clutch. I think the only thing that will be holding me back is the stock clutch, it may prevent me from getting all the power to the ground effectively. But we'll see, I don't know how it will hold up to nastier launches.

Just a quick review......all times are stock weight with my 240lb ass driving unless otherwise specified.........
Stock=9.5@72 and 14.8@94
+ECU adjustments= 9.4@77 and 14.6@96
+Cobra h/e and cutout= 9.4@80 and 14.4@101
+Meth, tuning, 26" x 10.5" slicks= 8.8@80 and 13.6@100 (I did go back to the 1/8th and manage a 8.7@80 with weight reduction)
+header, catless dp, 2.9 pulley, single pass ported IM, ice box w/ opt. b, CONSERVATIVE TUNE= managed a best 1.95 sixty 8.4@82 and 13.2@104

once you race on slicks, you'll never go back to street tires. I know I won't, the risk of wheel hopping and breaking something isn't worth it. Although you launch pretty hard on slicks, it's still more cushion with the wrinkle wall rather than the hard stiff street tires. **** street tires.

Yah, seriously.. especially the 18's... skinny sidewall, heavy tires and rims FTMFL.

I usually start the night off with a 3500rpms launch, then about 4200 then a 5K for the rest of the night.

axles are fine, I have to let the car cool down for about 45min after each run though or the clutch will slip. My experience with the stock clutch is, as long as you give it sufficient cool down time, it'll hold. But, if something does start to go on my car, usually the clutch gives a little.

I plan to ride the clutch out till it won't take anymore abuse. Once it gets to where it slips no matter what I do on a hard pass, it'll be time to get a new clutch. At the same time though, I plan to do some tranny work. So that's why I'm hoping the clutch holds up all of next year, cause next winter I'd like to do clutch and tranny work.

no weight reduction except for on the 8.7@80 run at my local 1/8th mile. Every time since has been on stock vehicle weight with my 240lb ass sitting in the driver's seat. And I'm not fat.

I updated that post so that people aren't confused with any mods now. ie slick size and full weight.

Got my ls4 throttle body the other day. Bought it off a member on here. It's in great condition. I picked it up for 55 bucks shipped. So I still have to get the adjustable cam gears, 2 step launch control, 3" intake, and port/polish the supercharger. It's been in the single digits ambient and negative winchchill here for the past week though, so I'm not messing with the car at all. It's just too cold. But when it warms up, I'll be pulling the supercharger for porting and then getting the intake made.

Yea, I still have to hit up the dyno as well. But I'm not going to go to the dyno in this weather. It's just too shitty. So it may be feb/march before I can do anything. It's just too cold.

Of course track times will come next season as well. The difference being I'll probably be a whole lot more aggressive with the tuning this time around. Hatrickstu is pulling some serious MPH with his setup, I expect to do the same with mine once all my mods are done and the tuning is complete.

Area47-I'll be coming back down there once it's warm and the track is open again.

well, no dyno for me anytime soon. I guess I didn't mix my dexcool into my intercooler fluid correctly, that **** froze, and my intercooler pump is DONE. ah well, this gives me a reason to upgrade to a higher flowing unit.

PLEASE tell me where you find this higher flowing unit when you do. I need one as well. A good one. And I trust that you won't slack on quality ralli
