when you go buy your engine. go with a zzp short block if you wanna keep your head. or a long block with the stage2 cams, cam gears, and springs.

Im going to pick up another stock lsj longblock from scranton this weekend, this will be the motor I turbo. I might also pic up this complete lnf drivetrain that's out in jersey, use the bottom end for a built motor and really turn up the boost

I believe external is better for higher boost applications, boost spike and creep

Just logging on LSJ turbo 131,000 miles on

Running turbo conversion for 5yrs now. Dyno before last upgrades 325hp. Ported head now, CF hood reverse scoop, larger throttle body, custom intake manifold, and some other little stuff.
question of the day for me is upgrade to 2.2 alternator because when you use 2.0 alternator and delete the old pulley and use a smaller belt you also reverse the direction of the pulley. 2.2 runs the other direction. 2.2 upgrade alternator is also out there as well.
I believe I burned up my 2.0 alternator last night running backwords.

yeah you can weld the clutch on the alt and it'll spin backwards and still work. the problem is the fan is now spinning the opposite direction and it's going to burn up the alternator after some period of time

The shop in the process of tuning my car (05 lsj turbo) says my pcm is locked. It had GM stage 2 tune on it. Any Ideas? I really don't think it's locked, i'm waiting for their call so they can tell me exactly what it's doing. searching hptuner forums and here as of now. Let me know if you have had any similar issues.

Yes it's my original.

Could it be an HPtuners version issue?

yeah, its replacing my first zzp block

one car, three engines.. only difference in this one is the valvesprings. going with the gen2 springs they just finished that bind at 520 instead of 450. i waaaas gonna go with the 2.4L forged bottom end instead of another lsj but they're still ironing things out with that combo so maybe next year i'll up it to that.

they're still working things out afaik. ive been emailing matt and zoomer regularly with input from todd from time to time and i asked them about switching over to the 2.4 bottom end but they said they're still doing r%d on it after ryans engine failure at CED

i also came across a slew of extended wheel studs that everyone thinks are out of stock

I'm not 100% sure, but I believe my buddy that did all the fab work just welded the internal wg closed. I'm planning on hitting boost up to about 25-30psi (not on stock internals of course). So an external wg is more reliable in that area as someone already mentioned.

i just had my 2.0 alternator clutch welded so it could run the opposite direction. No problem on it since. And a 2.2 alternator is bi-directional just so you know.

Am not sure about the spool time on that turbo but i say it has to be somewhere between 3500-4300rpms. Ive seen that turbo and its pretty big but that isnt too bad for spool time either. I can have almost full boost by 3200k but then am on a s20g which is also smaller but it deff gives a kick in the rear once you step on it
