ill replace the valves with stock for now (untill i do a full build later anyway)
just called a local machine shop that specializes in head work and they said that to remill the head for reinstalation is only 45$ and then 10$ to pressure wash the hole thing clean again...they also said that if i wanted to shave a lil off (to raise compression a bit
i know somone on here has done this...anyone know what the same limits are for shaving the head??? .005?? i think is what someone did.
and since im replacing the head gasket anywhos....im goign to go with the thinner one....figure why not get some free ponies from increas c/r while im at it
(i do wan to be safe while doing it though...so any input is MORE then welcome!)
3 weeks to a mo ya
it would be sooner if i wasnt going out to texas next week....
but weekend after this ill pull it apart and have my buddy come look to make sure nothing else is fucked.
buy parts, weekend after that reassemble *hopefully* and then retime and all that jazz

Just trying to help out, what all are you upgrading/replacing? Do you know which valves are bent?

thank you SOOOO much though!!!!!!all i need to buy at this point is the bolts to replace the ones on holding on the head.
he has a full spare 2.2 that we can take parts from and a brand new head gasket....a local shop is going to shave the head for me and we are going to reassemble after that
talked with vince and he said ill be fine with the higher compression without tuning till him and i can meet..ill be taking it easy at first to make sure all is good, then when we tune ill go ***** out on the dyno then on the strip
(this is all as long as nothing on the bottom end of the engine is fucked)

current plans are to shave .020 off, if its too much we have a spare head to use, but from my research that *should* be safe, if it all works out then we will be reassembling starting a week from monday (will be out of town for a few days) and then HOPEFULLY she will live again..if not im seriously going to cry this time
and then bite the bullet and take it to a shop....
but with the engine torn down like this we should be able to make a decent assesment of what is going on.
with increased compression, i fully expect to see 180s to the wheels if not a bit more
let me know if you have any thoughts

Hey dude, I have stock GM head bolts sitting in my garage im never going to use. Would you like them? I know I paid like $70 something for them a couple years ago but I'd give them to ya dirt cheap. I also have a stock head gasket if you need a spare.
