Wow very responsive, don’t think I got over 20% throttle this morning. Very nice feel so far!

Great to hear my brotha. I ended up getting my springs yesterday and they look freaking nice brotha. I can see why everybody goes with YYZ's because the quality is amazing. I've seen a lot of springs in my day between installing coil overs and regulars springs to lowering springs and these are extremely high end! Can't wait to put these on my car. So you going to try one more trip to the strip this year? Should be interesting to see how much the new TB takes of your ET and 1/4 mile brotha.

drag strip closed 2 weeks ago sadly but I’ll be back next year. Maybe some new tires, definitely will be a few changes since last pass.

yeah yyz’s are definitely top notch. Compared to my last set of springs, the outer material used on the yyz’s look hella durable! And of course they ride amazing too!

Yup I hear ya brotha. Last car show around here was in September. They normally have a annual fall dyno day down here but with covid not sure if its going to happen this year will see. So I got a question for you is the stealth heat exchanger good cooling mod? I'm probably going to get the intake spacer and of course option b kit. Since i'm only going to be 3.1 pulley you think I need the extra heat exchanger since i'm already going to be using the S3 that comes with the ZZP kit?

If your gonna use the phenolic spacer with a 3.1 your going to need a longer belt. Much easier to drop to a 2.9 fits like a charm. Just run low timing top end like 12.

Not sure on the stealth tho.. sure someone else will chime in. From what I’ve read a stealth is comparable to an LSJHE and a S3.

stealth and a S3 will not preform as well tho.

I don’t have a post temp so I don’t know if I’m doing any better or worse. Selling point for me tho was how close the stealth sits in front of the rad stack. One less He restricting airflow to the next HE/ Rad. Also my HEs was all banged up now I have one mint one, very minimal plumbing too!

So I might skip the phenolic spacer for now if I gotta get a longer belt plus it sounds like combining the s3 he with a stock oem replacement lsj he is the better option for cooling mods. However if that's not possible let me know and then maybe I get a longer belt to fit the spacer with the 3.1 pulley because I really don't want to go lower than a 3.1 as I want to be as safe as possible with this build.

I as-well wanted to keep it safe at the start, couldn’t find any belts that were just a smidge longer though. Initially tried to cram a 3.0” pulley, still too big, then just said f$ck it.

Also* the bolts supplied in the phenolic spacer kit are M8 (for an LSJ head).
Your cylinder head and mine uses M6 so you would need to acquire custom bolts. And keep in mind that normally it would be held up by a lower intake manifold mounting bracket (not supplied in zzp’s kit) which is another risk using M6 and no bracket *with the spacer because it’s gonna move all the weight now a 1/4” away from the head..
I do not have a lower bracket and am running M6 custom bolts fine but the risk is there for you to decided. I could dig up dimensions if you go there...*

Best bang for your buck, S3 and LSJ definitely. Lots of data out there, it works, different sellers, easy, cheap.

best HE out there is a Griffen but idk if they’re still around or how much they even are. It should be ran on it’s own..

stealth, less data out there. Huge points for fitment and continuing a tight rad stack. Less plumbing for a single HE. Which is nice. But shouldn’t be paired with another front mount He and since your already getting one in the kit. Probably cheapest and easiest thing is just to source an LSJ one.
Though if your using a 3.1 pulley your honestly fine with just a S3.

But a 2.9” pulley, phenolic spacer, LSJ HE, S3 HE, no methanol, 91 gas. You could rock 12 degrees of spark top end all day long.
i did for a good few months, then turned on methanol and increased timing more and my internals are worse than yours so it is a risk but you’d be risking less than me lol. Either way you décidé boost is awesome can’t wait till you get her going

Thank you my brotha for explaining this in more detail. Sounds like the spacer is great if you are LSJ since its basically plug n play but not soo much for lap, l61 and le5 guys since its more of a risk not sealing to the head properly. Glad I asked about the spacer because I was going to be starting to pick up parts next month early Dec for the supercharger build and the spacer was one of the first small parts on my build list. Yeah trust me I love high horsepower but this was and is going to be a fun conservative build for me to satisfy me for a few years until I get something much more quicker and most likely v8 and go ham on that. Until then this is going to be my first dip in the water with boost so I don't wanna go too aggressive at first lol. definitely going to look at the griffin HE but if not just stick with what ZZP provides in the kit which is now f$ucking sold out lol. It was literally still in stock yesterday brotha FML lol. First the YYZ'S now the supercharger kit lol. Oh well i'm hoping it'll be back in stock next month right in time for black Friday and hopefully I get it cheaper will see. Thanks again for all your advice brotha its going to be epic once she is all done. I will try to setup and post pics on here to show you. For some damn reason my laptop wont upload my pics from my phone its driving me nuts lol.

No problem man, wish I knew a little more before I bought a few things but they all make it on eventually!

Also phenolic spacer will block a Evap/ pcv port on your cylinder head for us 2.2/2.4s. You could cut the gasket and spacer to retain function or just leave it blocked, which is what I did.. so yeah definitely meant for an LSJ, little more work for everyone else. Still solid mod.

Hopefully it comes back in stock. If you piece together a kit, go Griffen or stealth, less plumbing hassle and no need to source or build brackets for the LSJ HE.

good luck, tuned in for install post/ pics/ vids!

I’m kinda the opposite I want to pick up a beater and go full race car with this sedan lol

Ok thanks my brotha I did not know that part about the spacer either. I would of been pissed trying to install that and having to get longer bolts and it covering some of the my main sensors. I'm just going to skip it for now. But now I know what I would need and have to adjust if I was to go with it especially if I decided to drop to a 2.9 pulley later on down the road. Yeah I've had my car since new bought it right off show room floor with I think 15kms on it. I babied this car for the most part and it only has 97,000 kms on it with barely any rust underneath which is surface and none on the body other than a bit on the rockers which is a common area for our cars anyway and my drivers front fender which is bubbling. I ordered a new front drivers fender this morning and I got a local body shop in my area that does amazing work so i'm going to bring the full life back out of my paint with a paint repair/buff/correction and get the new fender installed at the same time. Do that in the summer after the suspension stuff gets done over the winter. I also might do a leather interior swap because my cloth tan interior looks like trash now all kinds of light stains and just tired of it now and I can never keep it clean enuff lol. Do you still got your original interior on yours? I've tried looking for ss interior or the Ion redline recaro interior but I rarely see it for sale and if it is its crazy expensive. One guy on ebay I saw a few weeks back with the shipping and exchange rate it was like almost $1,100.

Yeah I didn’t know the LSJ head took larger bolts when I bought my spacer. Also don’t think I even thought about belt length being an issue.. ended up sitting on a shelf for about a year.
It won’t block any sensors off tho, the little hole it blocks just vents crank case pressure into your manifold I’m pretty sure. Still not ideal to start blocking things off lol..

Damn, clean bodies are always a head turner!
Yup I still got an original interior. Very basic exterior, missing paint here and there on the front bumper. Very little rocker rust. Under carriage is all good but it’s winter driven so you know what thats like. Other than change my wheel colour next year from black to white (Grey body), I don’t mind my cars appearance too much. Don’t want to attract too much attention now. Really wish I had an SS bumper tho, that’d probably get me caring about body condition again possibly a spoiler..mmm

My grandparents initially bought this car new, through the years it’s bounced around between family and few years back I got it. Only part of the car that was ever maintained was the interior lol. I swear when I got it, it had like 70HP.

Check ‘used car part finder’ should bring up all salvage yards. Saw a few in my area a while back, worn but 400$ Pretty sure they have heated seats too would be very nice haha

Thanks man yeah i'll do that and see what the junkyards got in my local area or even New brunswick. I gotta another question for ya what are the best plugs to run once my car is boosted? I' heard that I can run oem ac delco irridiums for the lnf or do I need specific ones for the 2.4 le5 cobalt? I also heard the autoliftes are garbarge for our cars which makes no sense why ZZP gives those with the supercharger kit.

If you want safe, I’d run NGK6509s, they’re a step colder for us.
you could run just about any plug, I don’t think these cars are that picky other than wanting a ground electrode. Your gap should be 0.040” so just be careful of that if you shop for lnf plugs I think they come in both 0.04 and like 0.032ish..

Best thing imo, would be something with a 0.4MM fine wire like Denso makes for the LNF’s then very carefully increase gap up to 0.04”

Sorry a little counter intuitive tho, I know you want safe.
Smaller the tip, bigger gap = more power.

so an lnf plug gaped around 0.032” might be ideal for you.
however you could also close the gap on a step colder plug ngk6509 but I would run them at their box gap 0.04”

Yup just checked and the ngk's 6509 plugs are 0.04 pre gaped and the lnf acdelco plugs are pregapped at 0.035. I think I would do the ngk's because I know I need a step colder like you said and there should be no sparkplug blow out if I go with the ngk6509's. So are you running the ngk 6509's right now in your car? How do you find them overall? Any spark plug blow out over a certain rpm?

Yup. I think it’s a good plug so far only been using it now at 0.04” for maybe a full month now, no blowout whatsoever. Seems to idle a little stronger than the autolites and I have a feeling it’s gonna last twice as long.
I was experimenting with increased gap for a while there, after pulling the 6509s a few times here and there they just kept coming out so so clean! Granted I am using methanol but I do think it’s a much better heat range for the car than whatever the autolite actually is.

Sounds good. So when you ran the m62 were you also using stock lnf plugs?

Actually thinking I may try Denso 5338 next summer. 0.4MM fine wire, 0.044" gap, stock heat range.. (Which is actually meant for an LNF, valid 08-10)

lot of good plugs out there to choose form..

Ok since I will be running the zzp 3.1 pulley is it fine for me to keep the stock gap for the lnf plugs at 0.035? Because when I checked on Rock Auto it list the stock lnf ac delco plugs as factory pre set with a gap of 0.035. Basically I want to know can I throw the stock lnf plugs straight in my car once its supercharged without changing the factory gap.

0.035” is perfectly fine. You’re good to throw em in

That should be fine. Just make sure they are gapped correctly. Some of them aren’t.
