Plus with the bad water pump my car was pulling mad timing and running a lot hotter than normal even with me adding a new denso radiator and new thermostat and full coolant flush(took it to shop for that portion since i don't have a coolant flush machine). This is why i'm waiting to do the supercharger last because I still got enuff maintenance parts left to replace. Yeah brotha you definitely got lucky with your ride it could of been really bad and i'm glad your dog was in a seat belt. For me i've always either hated the winters down here or just tolerated them lol. Some winters in Scotia are mild and then we get Bastard Winters like this year where its minus 20 everyday and snow storms it seems every second weekend lol like WTF! Mind you it seems Canada in general has beeb dealing with nasty winters all across the provinces. Even my best friend who lives in Kelowna said this winter has been really bad and they usually get light snow and mostly rain. They have been dumped on with like 30 cm a few weeks ago and overall more snow than normal brotha. Plus C33VID makes it worse with restrictions and all that mess.
When mine failed, I had really bad belt slip under wot and just idling you could see the tensioner going back and forth just barely holding any tension..
Yeah that’s smart, best to get the car in as best shape as possible before using the blower. Maybe new spark plugs and a trans fluid change too and I think you’ll be set?
I remember when I first got this car it had maybe 80hp out of the 155 it just had no maintenance done whatsoever.

yeah once I knew I was spinning out and knew I wasn’t gonna recover my only goal was not hit a post off the road and pulled the e-brake a little and just tried to slow down, came about a foot from hitting it said post. Thankfully my wheels were also straight when I made my final descent into the snow, that, I’m sure really stopped any major damage from occurring..

-20 doesn’t sound so bad lol, but I’m sure it’s a different kind of cold over there. Can’t remember but I think here it’s a dry cold, where the wind comes of the Rocky Mountains and we get that nasty windshield. Lot of the locals here Have said we got more snow this year than they’ve ever seen before…. I’ve personally noticed in the past few years, winters are getting shorter and happening later in the year too..
We average about -30 here ever winter, windshield probably averages -40 with a couple peeks of -50 once or twice a year. But it’s part of being Canadian, I remember growing up and walking to school and they’d make you wait outside till 8am and you lose all feeling in your legs waiting hahaha
Yeah I’m really hoping that **** ends already, I’m all vaccinated, controversial opinion but we should just open the flood gates already let it take its course. I’m sure treadeu will just copy Britain in a few weeks anyway ..

Jesus. Just kill me at that point. Too cold to function.

Do you have a block heater or anything like that? Mobil 1 5W30 has a Pour Point of -45°C.

Yeah it was pretty nasty! I was a little scared pulling out of my driveway the trans fluid must've been soooo cold. put it in reverse and it didn't wanna move, could've been frozen brakes too ...

I do, but I honestly don't use it that much, probably should've last night.. My car barely started this morning, took a little bit of patience, was on two cylinders for maybe 10 seconds around 400rpm lol

That's insane brotha. Last week and earlier this week it was between -15 to -18 or so. Was warmer today at about 5 degrees, but we getting freezing rain tonight through tomorrow. And yeah I see why your car can't function properly brotha. Those are extreme temps.

5 degrees sounds nice haha. It's warmed up quite a bit here now. Lately we've been having extreme swings, -30 one day, 0 the next. Lots of customers with frozen DEF tanks lol.
We had an insane blizzard monday, couldn't see afoot in front of me on the highway, turned around waited for daylight and I made it to work doing like 50 on the highway..

Yeah this weather does weird **** to vehicles, I wonder at what temp exactly my car stops reading ambient temp ..

Finally got my stainless brake line kit from OTTP today. Look like very high quality lines same as the fuel lines I bought from them. And you can get the 4 line kit for the disc brakes in the front and drums in the back. Just scroll on the option menu at ottp. Same price as the 6 line abs kit I got brotha.

I apparently can’t catch a break here, was driving home, car was up to temp, decided to give it some beans and went wot.
immediately dead miss on cylinder 1.
pulled over swapped plugs and coils, fired it up again, still a dead miss. Limped it home, around 50km/h with like 2% throttle it didn’t miss but when you lift the pedal or apply more than that it goes ******* nuts.

im almost thinking a valve stuck open idek anymore lmao

I would definitely get a compression test done. When's the last time you replaced your vvt solenoids? When mine went bad it was similar situation i could go wot without missfire and studdering. I ended up getting new vvt solenoids and it fixed that problem anyway lol. oh and if you change them out make sure you do an oil change brotha.

she was fine two days ago, was boosting like crazy in the cold.. I’ve changed VVT solenoids maybe 20-30K ago

this is a dead miss on start up and if you can get it up to about 50km/h it stops with very very light throttle.
It’s suppose to be warmish on Sunday maybe it’ll go away, I’ll take another look at it tomorrow, maybe pull the valve cover see if there’s a stuck valve, not even sure what that’d look like tbh

ok keep me posted brotha. And yeah definitely sounds like it could be a bad valve potentially. Hopefully its not though.

well i had the courage to try again, it turned out to be another failed zzp coil in the cold.

cant explain why my spare coil didn’t work yesterday, maybe the plugs were wet, maybe the computer disabled injector flow after missing so many times as a safety mechanism, idk. I kinda have theory tho it’s the grease used in them that’s freezing below -30 stopping ignition

Well I have 3 stock coils and one np boosted coil.
2 newer zzp coils and 2 old zzp coils, 1 of which just failed.
so I’m running 2 new zzp coils, 1 old and 1 np boosted.
I’ve decided to keep all my coils now In my car, not just one spare

I also keep a set of stock plugs in my glovebox, spark plug socket, extension and 10mm socket.
this’ll be the 3rd time a coil failed on me in the winter lol

Yeah soo weird brotha. Well at least it wasn't anything major like before so that is positive thing. I changed out my coils packs once and I just replaced them with oem acdelco brand and no issues. However if I get any problems I'll know what symptoms to look out for brotha. I thought about getting those zzp coil packs but I heard about people having too many issues with them so I don't know if its worth the extra cost to me brotha. My last set of coils I bought cost me over 200 bucks from rockauto. Those type of items I believe its better to replace in pairs kinda like light bulbs for your headlights.

So I ended up breaking 2 more coils after we last spoke lol, which brings the count up to 5 or 6 now ? Last one failed in 0C ambient temp so not sure its a weather issue anymore, anyone going back to OEM ones, ZZP was super nice and helpful. Getting a refund plus enough oem coils to make a complete set. I'm curious if other people's are still failing or if there's a reason my car chews them up but nonetheless, I've never had an oem one fail on me so I should be good going forward.

Yeah I heard those zzp coil packs are hit or miss brotha. I just stick to either denso or oem plugs like you said. To me its too much money to waste on very little gain.
