Ya the 1st and 4th gens have a surprisingly sharp cutoff. But they're really lacking in brightness and beam uniformity.

hey guys finally got around to posting a video,

YouTube - my new cobalt RGB LED headlights

These are my new cobalt headlights I designed and built. They are made with custom halos (I made from work), RGB LED strips, RGB LED controller mounted in my car, and repainted gen 2 projectors.

I only show them changing the main three colors but the controller allows for a mixture of all the colors to create new ones (and the legal colors haha)

I will post another video of the other colors. The controller also allows for dimming and shuffling of the colors with varying speeds and brightness.

Wow I obviously need to trade my 3rd gens for 1st gens to get that cut off. And those 3rd gens pictured have an anti-glare mod cause mine from 3bspec are not nearly that good.

@Red John, no its an 06 SS/SC G85 package

the only thing missing is the front lip because the previous owner must have removed it

Depo Gen 4's with 6000k HID's, this is the most snow my Cobalt ever sees, then it promptly goes back into the garage to sleep for the next four months

Would it be possible to swap for clear lenses such as the ones at the retrofit source to improve the light output? I'm looking at making a custom pair of Gen 4s but swapping out the projectors would be a gigantic pita.

I'm not really too sure on that. I don't know how the lenses are held in. You might want to try PMing JL-KA, he's currently working on retrofitting the gen 4s.

Guys I got gen. 3 ccfl projectors and an hid kit for both lows and highs, but Im having some trouble with the installation on the hids and the ccfls... First of all, everything works perfectly on the driver's side headlight I wired ccfls and leds to the ccfl inverter then used quick connects to tap into the running lights. On the passenger's side, only the leds light up when i turn the running lights on, the ccfls stay off and the setup is the EXACT same. The only thing I can think is that the ccfl inverter on the passenger side is bad.. Other than the fact it looks like it got run over by a lawnmower and someone glued it back together, i hooked the passenger ccfls to the driver side ccfl inverter and they worked like a charm.. So Ill be calling them today and requesting a new ccfl inverter be overnighted.. OTHER than that..
The hids on the passenger side are reversed.. What I mean by that is that the highs are on when the lows should be on and vise versa. The high beam ballasts are being powered off of the relay harness but the low beam ballast is getting its power from the factory wiring. Does anyone know what I am doing wrong

Are you sure you didn't just hook up the bulb to the wrong ballast? Not trying to insult you just going over the basics. Also I would run both the low and high beams off of a relay harness. Other than that idk, I've never ran a high/low hid setup and 3rd gens. Did you try unhooking the high beam setup completely? I would work on making sure the low beam setup worked completely before hooking up the highs.

Fixed the high/low problem.. Turns out when my friend went to take the old bulbs out of the headlight he switched the harness around so the high was going to the projector and the low was going to the bowl hahaha. As for the CCFL ring.. They shipped me a faulty CCFL inverter.. It looks like the thing got ran over by a lawnmower no lie, chips and scratches all over it so I had to ship that back and they have to "test" it before sending me a new one.. So I'm rollin around with one set of halos hahaha at least its on the same side as oncoming traffic... That would be just my luck, of course it can't just work!!
But another question about the relay harness... The bulbs that came in the gen 3 projector were 55w, so how is it that both the 55w high and low beam bulbs can run off of stock wiring but I need a relay harness for a 35w hid? Doesn't make much sense to me. For now I'm running lows off stock power and highs and fogs get a relay harness.. I'll get another one for lows when I have the extra cash haha

I'm having the same sort of problem with the gen 3... The highs are blinding but the projectors are surprisingly dull.. Especially with a 6000k HID, I feel like they aren't nearly as bright as they should be. I had a 6000k bulb in my stockers and it projected a lot farther and brighter than the gen 3. The cutoff is crooked as well.. It's driving me in sane at night hahaha I had to stuff a piece of foam under the passenger side light and its still off by a couple inches. This is when I start to wonder if aftermarket is really the best way to go for functionality.... Looks, definitely, but functionality always seems to worsen.
