Pittsburgh Crew < You
That's good to hear. I couldn't tell what happened; it looked like there was at least one car on the small bridge just west of the exit and something else further down, about 200 feet or so. They just now finished cleaning-up and it looks like both lanes are open...
No Mike, that was not me. I wasn't on route 30 till like 11:30 at the earliest.
Hey I have a fun time tonight, despite the gross drunk ppl at sheetz... it ended really well with the 4-wheelin'
It was good to meet you Bill and good to see you again Dave.

WHOA.... where the hell did you find 93 octane for 2.69???????????
I paid 2.89 for 93 on THursday @ Sunoco in Irwin. It was $2.69 for 87 there.
I'd tell you good luck today, but you're already gone.

OH, BTW.... as I type... my SS's OEM Wheels are having their New HOOSIER R-comps mounted and balanced for the 1st Auto-X of the season.
$18 a wheel including tire disposal.

Saw 2 red SS/SC's eastbound on 30 tonite. One of them made a left turn from the right lane in Jeannette, looking like it almost took out the other, which was in the left lane. The other (very clean, BTW) continued past my exit toward the mall. Don't know if either was anyone on here; the only Victory Red one I know personally is Karla and I don't think either one was her.
Good times. I must have hit my head on the roof of the jeep like 10 times. Yea, sheetz is definitely an uncomfortable place to be that time of night. I'm surprised that cops don't sit there all night and pick people off leaving the parking lot. They could probably pull about 20 DUI's out of there easy.
Just an FYI to everyone, I'm planning on meeting up with Dave tomorrow (Sunday) around noon to install my pulley and injectors possibly. Dave suggested I post this in case anyone else is interested in showing up.
OK, well if anyone is getting together, let me know SOON. ALMS race @ St. Petersburg is on @ 8 and I want to watch that, but if someone wants to go and eat... I'm game.
I got the tires back FINALLY from CFM.....
I dropped them off @ 11AM and they said they'd get to them. I called @ 2:45 and they were working on them. Well, they said "Hey, you can come get them, but there's no charge since we cant do them. THe sidewalls are too stiff for our machine to get the inside bead to seat right. They called Flynn tire and they had the same machine, so they were out.
When I got there, they had sent them to Import/Export as they apparently have a better machine. It took a while, but I got them, and they still only charged me $18 a wheel including old tire disposal.
The guys up there seem to be a good bunch of guys.
For those of you that are at some of the Autocrosses, the "trunkmonkey" kid is now working there. He's working on getting me a better $$ on my wheel/tire combo.

Me, Dave, and Dan are goin' to Dave's place to put on Dan's new brake pads and figure out what's goin' on from there. Probably more boozin'. It's gonna rain for the next 2 or 3 days so we should take advantage of the weather while we can. If anybody's out, give us a call.
Hahahaha, Brian, to clarify my text message...my car is now the fabled BeaveRun Cobalt. I, uh, have some new Cobalt fans and there's also a few Porche's out for revenge on Cobalts. Made some new EVO friends too. (Denny, I'll send them in the direction of Dave's website.)
There was a screw up in registration and I got stuck in run group one which is like driving for retards, all the first timers are in that group. There was me and a guy in a brand new white EVO that had previous track days, so we pretty much just got to go all out and dodge newbs. There was a VERY unhappy Viper ACR that got lapped for three sessions straight. Also a race-prepped SVT Cobra that couldn't drive for ****. Got him to 11 laps down. Now I can understand not getting the hang of cornering right away, but I was eating this guy alive ON THE STRAIGHTS.
The guy that rode in my car is a HUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUGE Mazda guy, owns a modded RX-7 race car, an RX-8 daily driver, and has a Mazdaspeed Miata. Was absolutely blown away by the SS/SC in general. He said he picked my car because he figured it would be like a Miata where you rely more on momentum than power, ended up saying "Honestly, I would DEFINITELY consider this a muscle car, cause you can pretty much power it through anything, you don't need so much momentum."
Several nicknames of the day: 1) Loudest boosted car at BeaveRun, 2) the French car (cause it whines so much), 3) the one guy using a track rental car called it Houdini, cause he'd just be driving along and all of a sudden there was a Cobalt on his ass, 4) 4 out of 5 members of the Porsche club refer to it as "That ******* blue Cobalt...".
So, the "rumors" I was telling Brian about, LOL. We're in classroom with one of the cheif instructors at BR, as well as Brock Yates, and Brock Jr. (and as I type this I am depressed by the fact that probably only Brian knows who I'm talking about). Anyway, they were warning people about last minute changes to car setup for OLOA, saying how they were setting up their GT3 and something got screwed up, they lost like 100hp. The instructor was like "It was kinda embarrassing because here we are getting our ass handed to us by this Cobalt SS/SC day in and day out." So the one Porsche guy goes "Tell me about it, there's one out there today that is passing every Goddamn car on the track" next Porsche guy goes, "Yeah, I saw that one, the blue one. I think that's one of the special ones that GM Racing built" third Porsche guy (who, BTW, sucked at driving - chickening out at a mere 85mph on a 130mph straight) goes "Oh, I was wondering. I knew they must have done something with it, that's way too loud to be stock. It's probably got a smaller pulley and some other goodies on it. That explains a lot." Meanwhile me, rental guy, and the two EVOs are laughing our asses off.
Fun, fun, FUN day.
Oh, and look for some Cobalt TV exposure. Both Discovery Channel and CMT were there filming footage. Don't know what will make the cut, but I know I was on there for a while. And they MIGHT have footage of my friend AJ FUBAR'ing his valvetrain on track.

The ass that that story kicks is of legendary status, and now I'm pissed that I spent the day moving stone instead coming out to watch.
COngrats on the great track day, and showing that just becuase it's not a Corvette, or F-body that a chevy can run on the track.
You'd think that these guys would expect it after seeing the Grand-Am Cobalts running...
Brock Yates..... has one of my favorite quotes ever...
Cannonball Run... "As far as I know, none of the 50 states has the death penalty for speeding... But we're not so sure about Ohio..."
Classic.

Even better - I wasn't the only newer SS on the track. One of the people there took their Trailblazer SS out too, LOL!
Yeah, I have to say the Brocks made for the best classroom session EVER!!!!!! How to avoid getting pulled over, what to do/say to get out of a ticket, how to not draw attention to yourself, etc, etc. I can't wait to go on One Lap now. Too bad I gotta save for a few years.
Haha yea that driver was stupid whoever it was....but Yea I noticed you there.
Definitely come out sometime there's a track day, let me know when you'll be there, I'll more than likely be out and about.
