Yeah, actually. I had a really good interview with a company up in Wexford. It'd cut my daily commute by 10 miles, and they're not a bunch of psychos. Sounds win win to me.
thats kinda what my job is doing for me-i work at cmu, so free education there=complete win. although its gonna take awhile cause i can only do 2 classes/semester, but i went to school for 2 years already so as long as most of those credits transfer shouldnt take me too too long.
thats cool-good luck on that!

Probably was blue, just an unusual shade. As in "not Arrival Blue"!
Just wondered because the guy was driving like a real ******* on 30 in Greensburg. Almost sideswiped me when he passed me, tried to run a guy off a ramp, then got pissed and blew by me again when I blew the horn at him. Douchebag.
Alicia, what happened with your job? I've been out of the loop for a while...

I'm getting laid off, the 29th is my last day. Not really upset, I hated this job, kind of pissed that they plan on taking me to court over unemployment. Although I have about 3 solid leads on jobs right now, and I just sent out another 10 applications this morning, so I'm hoping I'm not unemployed for long.
I hear you on the job hunting. I have 23 applications out and all I got was 5 " we wont hire you because you dont have any experience" emails.
Im 99% certain I'll be leaving Pittsburgh sometime in July. Hopefully I get a job lined up before I graduate in June at least. I hate out of city moving. :-\

The last time I got laid off back in 2009, i put out over 250 resumes before going back to college.

Yeah. I get the feeling that this whole debacle is going to end with me back in school. There's just nothing available for my degree level in my field. I either need to get a Master's in Psych or I need to move into another career field, which I've been thinking about for a while.
I think the GTO color was Impulse Blue Metallic, but I can't remember for sure. I don't think any of the ones I know of would have been around Greensburg.

Hope you find something soon. It's been 2 years for me, my unemployment just went bye-bye 3 weeks ago. I *was* trying to get another HVAC job; gave up on that after sending out countless resumes and hearing NOTHING (I know where you guys are coming from- it gets old) and I'm in school for computers/IT. Should be done by Christmas if all goes according to plan. Hopefully THEN I'll find something...
Good luck, hope it works out for you.
I'm sorry to hear that. How in the hell can they deny you unemployment if they are laying you off? I'd fight that tooth and nail if I were you.

That sucks, welcome to the club :-(
They just appeal it and hope the judge finds in their favor. I called my old neighbor a few days ago, I remembered that her husband worked at Braddock. When they closed that site down, EVERY employee was displaced. She said that they offered her husband a position in Mechanicsburg (like 2-3 hours away) and a pay cut. They would not pay for moving expenses, he was going to have to commute. He didn't have reliable transportation and obviously he couldn't take the bus there. When he went for his hearing the judge said that the company's offer was "fair" and that by turning it down, he demonstrated that he was not willing and able to accept another comparable position and he got denied his claim. According to her, "she was told" that about 70% of the displaced employees were denied their claims.
