Hey Tommy, who made your retrofits? I love mine but I've gotten to where I'd rather have less chrome.

Does anyone have the size of the LED boards that fit in the 3rd Light space? I found a board I like but need to know if it will fit. I saw the one from Modernco is 12" long, but don't know how wide it is. I found one that is 11.5" long by 1.181" wide....Can anyone measure for me possibly?

I got them from buyhids.com. But hoestly, with the quality of the projectors they use compared to what you already have, you're not going to be happy with them. The ones you have are way better. If I were you I would just either take them apart yourself and repaint them, or pay someone to do it for you. It's not going to be worth buying all new lights.

Thanks, do you think there is another 1/4" height wise in the housing? especially if I'm a 1/2" to a 1" shorter?

Looking at this item on Ebay:

LED 3rd Brake with Turn/back-up/hazard

I expect to pull it out of its housing to use it too so the board should be a bit smaller.
Thanks.

Uhhh... idk to be honest. I don't know how much room is inside the housing. I've never opened the housing to see how much spare room there is.

If you want to do an LED 3rd brake light just go to a junkyard and find a new Impala the strip will fit. That's the way everyone used to do it at least.

Hey guys I've got a question for ya.. Just installed my 6k HIDs for the stock 9007 bulbs, but I've decided to get the gen 3 ccfl projectors (05-10 COBALT PONTIAC G5 CCFL PROJECTOR LED HEADLIGHT BK - eBay (item 140485245008 end time Dec-06-10 15:12:12 PST)) to be exact.. I know that I need H1 HID bulbs with this setup, but will that go into the projector or the exposed bulb? Im guessing the exposed is low beam and the projector is high? Also, if I want brights and fogs, I must buy another H1 HID kit but what do I need for the fogs? Is that all universal? I don't have fog lights right now so can I just buy any assembly and the HID bulb will fit? Thanks for the help

The projector is the low beam, the halogen reflector is the high beam. If you want to install fog lights, you're going to have to buy either an ss bumper or a base model bumper that comes with fog lights, or do a custom job installing some yourself. The stock fog light bulb is an H11 bulb.

Well I have an aftermarket bumper that has fog light holes, I believe theyre 2.5" in diameter, but I don't know where to find a decent housing.. Autozone and Walmart have those cheap little fogs with the blue lenses but theyre the only ones I can find in the right size. How big are the ss ones? Can i find a set in a junkyard and wire em up? Also, are you runnin 6 or 8k fogs? Your front end looks great man thats kind of what Im going for but I cant decide if I want amber fogs or blue ones. And do you know where to find the switchback led blinker? Thanks again

I have no idea how big the stock foglights are. I'm sure you can wire up the stock fog lights no problem, but mounting them is going to be difficult. I have 8k fogs. I got my switchback turn signals from 3bspec. There's a link to them in the op. Make sure you get resistors, also in the op. I THINK, don't know for a fact, but a set of Hello Micro DE fogs might fit. You may want to do some research first.

The hellas look like a great choice, but I can't seem to find any with a 2.5" diameter it says theyre 2.5" wide by 3.1" wide, but its a circle.... Also it says they come with an H3 halogen bulb will it still run an H11 HID bulb?

No it would use an H3 bulb. The dimensions confused me too. Maybe try finding someone else with your bumper that added fog lights to them, I know there are a few at least. If I see someone with it I'll let you know.

Ordered JM Auto Racing Projector HID (lows and highs) for my black DEPO's, will install on black on black car when installed

Why does modern performance say you need to have one light on the "LED 3rd brake light mod" lit up as resistance to keep your cruise control working? What the heck??? Please explain.

Resistance. On our cars, if all the lights on the 3rd brake light go out, the cruise control stops working to let you know your bulbs are out. If you leave one in it maintains enough resistance to allow the cruise control to run, so you can either leave that bulb or find a suitable resistor.

There are other colors I can do too but ill take a video later today and post it. I'll also post some daytime pics too. They are very bright in the daylight.

Basically took the gen 2 headlight..scrapped the ccfl halos..and painted over he light bar and three LEDs in the top right to give a cleaner look..then added the RGB strips and custom halos

do we have a "how to" thread on installing HID's in projectors? I have some buddies who have same Depo headlights and have installed HID's in them, but I'd like to see how its done for myself before doing the install, any ideas? Links?

Mods if you could add this to the OP it would be greatly appreciated.

Ok this is something I've been meaning to add for a long time. A cutoff comparison between all of the projectors including the aftermarkets and retrofits. All pics for retrofits will be sourced from hidplanet.

1st gens

2nd gens

3rd gens

4th gens

For a comparison of all the bixenon projectors to retrofit, please see this thread on hid planet.

Bi-Xenon Output Comparison: TL, E55, Murano, FX, IS, e46,LR3

The G1s are sold by 3bspec, the G3s are what buyhids.com sells.

One thing you don't see very well that the hid planet one shows is beam brightness comparison. The aftermarkets are gonna be about as bright as the G1s shown in that thread are. You can clearly see how using the same bulbs, the higher quality retrofit projectors are MUCH brighter, along with having a more colorful cutoff and wider beam pattern.
