That's what I was expecting... That seems pretty damn sufficient for me... (At least from just a GM tune).....

I know that the prospect of the stage kit has some solid evidence leading us to believe it might happen, but where is everyone getting these HP figures?

Is there any real documentation backing these figures up or is it just "A GM tech told me..." type of deal...?

I have found information that the kit exists, although there is no official HP rating from what I have seen. The 315 hp seems to be word of mouth.

When I found the part numbers on the solstice forums, I went to the dealership and they contacted GMPD and let me talk to them. I gave them the part numbers and they confirmed the kits were coming and that the LNF manual transmission kit was 315 @ 4800 and the automatic transmission (HHR) was 290 @ 5200. GMPD actually confirmed every part and calibration number to be valid with a release date of spring. I don't know who leaked the numbers or how they got out but they definately exist...

That means it'll also be making 345 tq...and running out of steam way earlier than it should. Interesting numbers indeed.

4800rpm's? I don't know, I'd rather see it make 315hp / (345tq) @ 4800rpm's rather than later on the torque curve myself...

What makes you think that? Sounds like SWAG to me...

The only concrete lead out there is this tune and manifold sensors. Other than that, it is ALL speculation.

GM=FAIL if they do not release a stronger clutch with the tune.........look at how many vendors have now said with a tune on the dyno they notice the clutch slipping already.........GM will be replacing alot of clutches under warrenty with this tune of theirs if a stronger clutch isn't used...........

Exactly...which is why I'm surprised that someone's thinking they'll up the torque output from 260 to at least 345 with the "stage" kit. I'd think they'd go more for top end without affecting the peak torque output too much in the name of drivetrain preservation.

Not Entirely True, my buddy that wors at the Dealership I bought mine at beats the evr-loving **** out of his car, and he started having Tranny issues at about 5 thousand miles. He has wbout 7 on it now, and his manager told him he would warranty just this once, and I believe they are covered for 5k miles.

I could be wrong, but I have heard they are covered up to 5k.

People get the whole "wear item" coverage thing confused easily...just because they're wear items, doesn't mean they're not covered in the case they turn out defective. Yes, the clutch is not part of the 5 year / 100k powertrain warranty because it likely won't last that long, but if it breaks or wears prematurely due to a defect in workmanship, it will be covered to a certain extent. Most dealerships will honor it up to 1 year / 12k miles, but of course some will fight it if they think the car has been abused.

Now just think what would happen to a stock ss/tc clutch after 12k miles if the tune was put on it immediately after buying the cobalt if not at the same time?? I bet lotta money that by 12k miles or sooner that driver is gunna notice the clutch slipping and try and get it done under warrenty........this is all IMO, lol pls don't take it too literally

GM will not release a product that the car is not capable of handling. It just doesn't make business sense.

It's a SPO Bulletin #ACC08-030 that is archived now. There hasn't been any new ones since the original yet.

One of the part numbers is in the system though I had the parts guy confirm its existence as a "08 SS/TC performance upgrade".
