Official Turbo LSJ thread!!!
Yes haha, decided to refinance my car and bring the payments down to $250ish a month from $520. So I'm good now. Don't think ima take this setup to the track, well maybe once's but I don't wanna kill my tranny till the car is paid off next year.
guys i put a hks ssq bov and am not sure which one i like better if my turbo smart or the hks. anyone has any experience with these? on how to change sound or what not? i like it because its louder than my TSmart but i dunno :/
Hey guys i m gonna go turbo on my lsj and I had a question what main parts would I need to do the swap and wat small parts would I need....and wat intake manifold could I use? Thanx in advance guys
are you planning on getting things separate through different vendors? theres kits that sell everything already.
Yea I saw the kits they sell but jus not for me...I've piece together before for my other cars...but as far cobalts I was thinkin of gettin the lnf turbo for now and other stuff from diff companies...but as far as stock parts I can use from the lnf I can use and which intake manifold I could use...

Funny thing is you ask about parts like every noob who ends up buying a kit and being happy. go ahead and piece together one and tell everyone how much money you saved. 500 or so at the most for something sub par. I'm not being a dick just telling it like it is. But hey, you're so smart, go ahead and buy a k04 and save 500 bucks overall on your super cool home made kit, an tell us how cool it is having a slow crapily put together kit.
it really doesnt bother me and u can sound like a dick or not...i can careless and it doesnt bother me... lmao....and who cares if i sound like a newb...and i dont take stuff to the heart like other people....hey everyone is entitled to their opion and wat not...lol and to each their own...but i know how to peice together a kit on my own and the right way...so i was jus askin which part i can use as far the intake manifold off of wat motor that was my main thing..lol and use the stock ko4 jus for now...and all the other parts were jus to be on the safe side and also alot of the questions i ask r jus to be on the safe side cuz i know theres alot more people on here that know alot more bout the lsj then i do so excuse me on being cautious...lol....lmao
my advise would be to take your time and safe the money to get actual quality parts. if you piece out your own kit, trust me is gona me a nightmare at the end. if you want to start with a k04 setup then make sure you read alot and take your time finding all the pieces that you need. because even one little hose or one screw can stop your hole build lol. trust me, i went through that lol.
same, which is why i can say what i do, been there done that. got the job done, but would i do it again? **** no i'd spend the extra few dollars and get the kit. you get quality and everything you need. granted i couldn't do so having an irl lol but yea. some people have too big of an ego i suppose.

if you run the ttr intake manifold. you will need to make custom piping.
if you run the lnf turbo, you will need the lnf turbo manifold and coolant pipe. you'd also need to get an intake meant to bolt on to the stock turbo. but will need to modify it for a correct pcv setup.
i'm not too familiar with how aftermarket downpipes bolt up to the stock turbo but if you run the stock downpipe for one make sure you get the o2 housing to go with it. otherwise just buy an aftermarket downpipe for them.
but back to the intake manifold. because you're using a ttr one. you won't be able to use any aftermarket or even stock piping for the ko4. if you run you're piping through the passenger side fender hole and down to the intercooler, you'll need to custom make an intake because no intake for the ko4 will allow hot side piping to be routed that way.
a lot of work for a sub par setup.

funny thing is that you seem to be asking for advice, and only listen to what parts you want to hear. Slowline can come off as a dick, but he's honestly telling you what everyone here in this thread is going to tell you: there's no such thing as a "cheap" set up with the cobalt. It's not a honda, so don't treat it like one.
