how are you colour matching these pods? when they come in black

my_bd
08-08-2006, 08:28 PM
are these strictly for the Cobalt only?
or will they fit an Ion Redline too?

Cobalt-Addiction
08-08-2006, 08:28 PM
We are doing exactly what all the manufacturers do . We get the factory color matched plastic dye and we paint them . We have done this on many cars in the past and have no problems with it holding up and looking correct. ;)
These are for the cobalt . If they make it for the redline just give us a part number and i can get them as well .

i like mine. but a suggestion is. down put the stock pod under it like directions say. besides it more than likely wont fit. just get a longer screw at Home Depot

Cobalt-Addiction
08-08-2006, 09:01 PM
Ours comes with the longer screw already . Yes i dont suggest you install it over the factory . Install it in place of the factory. We are trying for exact factory color match as much as possible .
We will also be offering complete pillar and gauge packages within the next week .

hey, if any of you guys get your hands on one of these Autometer pods and also have access to an Ion Redline, could you try a test fitment to see how close it is to fitting and/or matching the Ion pillar?
cuz if it's just a bit too long maybe we can trim it a bit to fit.
just a thought.
thanks.

Color matched pics are up on the site and in the very first post with the other pics in this thread. The color is very close to the pillar color and almost exact with the headliner color. The actual headliner /sunroof cover is what is under the pods to show how close the color is . The pillar in the middle is the actual factory pillar to show actual color. The pillar color is difficult because it is not a true color , it has black/grey fibers into the actual pillar. It is not a painted color. For that reason we actual did a dust spraying of a medium grey overspray over the factory color and got a very close match. The pics we posted are so you can tell the color difference the most . Outside in the light they look exact. The good thing though is the other factory pillar is not right next to this one when installed so you wouldnt notice the difference in color.
We couldnt even order the color we had to make it today which took some time and a whole bunch of test sprays. Hope you all enjoy !!! I think they look Great in person .

It says on your website that they fit 2Dr, SS and 4Dr?

Are there any differences in the 4 Dr one, cause we tried to put the SS a Pillar in my 4 door and it wouldn't fit?

Just wanted to make sure it would fit the four door for sure, very interested in these!

Cobalt-Addiction
08-10-2006, 06:49 PM
From what we have tried these do fit the 4 door model . The inside of the stock pillar is the only difference in fitment . These do not have the stock inner support thus they will work . We ordered every different pillar made for the cobalt and tried them all in the 2 door ss and they all worked fine once the inside supports were removed.

i will be ordering these soon, but i want to see the package deal with the gauges first, like what a price would be with the autometer cobalt series full sweep boost, vacuum gauge, oil pressure gauge, tranny temp gauge, and narrow band air fuel ratio gauge, of course in a 3 pod tan matched pod and the 4th gauge will be going into that compartment on the left of the steering wheel, on a side note you guys should make something that lets us custom fit a gauge in that spot for those of us that want more than 3 gauges...just an idea

the air bag is not in the pillier.. it is above the door the onlything in the pilier is a hose and a wire that runs down behind the dash and it is not in the way... more than enough room to for wireing and other things.. honestly it is empty behind there.. it tooke about 2 min to install, then the gauges wich all depends on what you get.. i have air tem & a/f gauge next week i have to pick up my interceptor for the third

I installed mine this past Friday with a pair of Interceptors and the stock boost gauge. I should have pictures posted by EOD on Wednesday.

Overall, the installation went smoothly, and the color match is near perfect. No one could tell the difference between it and the passenger side pillar. The screw does make it look pretty crappy, but I plan on drilling the hole out a bit and securing a washer to the back of the a-pillar to put a different screw through (so it'll be flush with the rest of the pillar).

^^^ yes exactly...go back into your paypal and see who the payment was sent to. when you order through us you get an automated order number which is generated through paypal. that then is printed out at our location once your payment has been processed through paypal.

the problem may be that a. your address linked to paypal was unconfirmed...usually happens if your credit cards address and shipping address are different.
or b. your card was not accepted (ie declined, etc) and didnt go through as a payment.

if its been 2 weeks, check you statement for your credit card used. see if they ever debited out the money. if so then def. contact paypal to see where your payment has gone.

you should get a confirmation to the email that you registered your paypal account.
so if you regularly use aol or something but set up paypal through yahoo for example...you would not get an email to your aol address even if its your prominant email account.

also upon shipment, our shipping company generates your tracking number which you will get through that same email...it also lets you know where to go to check on the shipment process.

they are almost the same....

2 1/16th= 2.0625
52mm=2.0472

they will fit fine, these gauge pods use interference fit, so they are already smaller than the recommended size...

So just being curious. I live in Delaware. If my order went through this past friday the 18th. Would I still be waiting 2 weeks or would it be a shorter period since im closer to NY?

depends on what shipping you wanted... if it was just standard ground (which is the standard shipping) it should take a little less than that....

I kept the stock boost gauge and added my two Aeroforce Interceptors. Click the camera link for a couple semi-fuzzy pics that will at least get the point across.

And I got the gauges directly from Aeroforce although they are available from at least a couple of the supporting vendors on here (including cobalt-addiction where I got the pillar complete with color-matching).

oh yeah installed mine friday w/ my aeroforce and AEM wideband (had to modify to fit) looks great... screw is barely noticable so I don't know what the big fuss was.... but if you paint it to match it won't stand out at all.. also I was toying with the idea of cutting out the mounting point from the stock pillar, using a holesaw to match the hole size and just glueing it it so I could use the stock bolt.

Did you have to pay the extra $12 USD shipping to Canada? I ordered the same thinf as you and I got this email saying I have to pay an additional $12 USD. I don't have a problem with that but when I try to get back into the website under "Contact Us' and try to pay for "Addtional Shipping Charge", I keep getting the same error msg. Did you have the same issues?

Thanks, Ang

DONNA! Buddy, pal of ours. How about a christmas Group Buy on these gauge pods??

A lot of us just bought gauges from the NGASales group buy. We all need gauge pods now.

Hint Hint, so now would be a good time for a gauge pod group buy. :cssNET:
