Hey guys i'm trying to gauge interest on a XTC Downpipe group buy so we can get a good price.
It will include 2.5" and 3" downpipes with and without High Flow CATs.
Who's in on this? Roughly 7-10 hp gains. Nice way to add power without droping a pulley size. :twothumbs
I'll update the thread with a final price once we gauge the interest.
This downpipe will bolt right up to the GM performance exhaust, stock exhaust, any 2.5" to 3" exhaust systems, GMPP manifolds and stock manifolds.

The Pricing!

Ok so here is what we can do since everyone has been so good so far in this group buy.
Downpipes will be the following :

2.5 w/o cat - $169.99 free shipping USA (save $30.00) / $189.99 usd shipped to CANADA

3.0 w/o cat - $199.99 free shipping USA (save $30.00) / $219.99 usd shipped to CANADA

2.5 w/cat --- $239.99 free shipping USA (save $40.00) / $259.99 usd shipped to CANADA

3.0 w/cat --- $279.99 free shipping USA (save $30.00) / $299.99 usd shipped to CANADA

This will only go till Monday August 28th for these prices. No exceptions. Most all downpipes will ship out in about 10 business days if not sooner. The quicker you pay the quicker it will ship out. We will accept paypal and money order for these. The special group buy will only be listed in the post with a special link. All orders will only be valid once 10 orders are recieved.
Thanks ....hope everyone likes !!!!

Yeah I would wait untill the DP is installed before you tune. That's exactly what i'm doing. I have the GM manifold coming and the GM exhaust is already here. So this DP is the last peice to the exhaust puzzle. Wait untill you have everything to do the tune.

No problem bro, yeah see if you can swing it. As far as a price and ordering goes i'm just trying to get an idea of how many of these will be ordered so we can get a set price. Hopefully get a price today. Then once we have the price we can just order it straight through the website with maybe a special code or something. :twothumbs

It might be cheaper I don't know but don't forget if you make your own you need to make an O2 bung for the O2 sensor, and you have to have a flex pipe at the top of the pipe.

Does anyone know if the 3" with cat will bolt diectly into a stock exaust?

06blackg85ss
08-21-2006, 04:17 PM
yes it does... just HAVE TO knock out the studs to the catback and put in bolts that come with the kit... my advice though is use the stock metal gasket to the catback with the stock exhaust because the bigger one that comes in the kit tends to leak going to a smaller pipe.

Bro this thread is to gain interest for a group buy. We don't even have a price yet. I emailed Donna and Kenny letting them know that i'm gauging interest on a possible group buy that included the link to this thread. Donna has told me that Kenny knows all about the thread. We will have a price tomorrow sometime once we can show him how many people want a downpipe. This is how you start group buys. Trust me this isn't my first. Companies love stuff like this. They went from no downpipes sold today to 14 sold tomorrow. I think it will be OK with him. As a matter of fact we already know it's OK with him. He's going to work up a price based on interest. :twothumbs

and using the provided gaskets too??

Yep. I have the GM manifold coming. I already have the GM performance exhaust too.
I'm getting the 2.5" dowpipe with the CAT and i'm going to use the provided gaskets. It will all bolt up nicely.

You just have to knock out the studs to the catback and put in bolts that come with the kit... my advice though is use the stock metal gasket to the catback with the stock exhaust because the bigger one that comes in the kit tends to leak going to a smaller pipe.

if i have a 2.5" outlet then why wouldnt it bolt right up?

Thank you for all the interest in this Bulk buy . Its great to see so many people interested in our product.
Alittle bit more warning would have been nice though to confirm and make sure we could do something on the prices and availability in moving so many at once. , ;)
I cannot come up with a price right now as i have to check that all the materials are in stock for such a large bulk order and what sort of prices we can actually do. We already cut ourselves pretty thin on pricing just to be competitive with the other companies offering the same product and are currently the cheapest with all the options.
Please see if you can get the list you have with the exact sizes and options people want because this will play a part in pricing also. for Example we could do better pricing if all 15 orders were for the same product.... I.E> 2.5" w/ cat ,instead of 4 orders for the 2.5w/cat , 4 orders of 2.5no cat , 4 orders 3" no cat , 4 orders 3"wcat. That way we could get better pricing on the specific materials.
See if you can get the actual product orders people would like together and i will work on the prices tomorrow and check on the availability of all the materials. I will work something out either way but if they are all the same the prices will obviously be better

Also . The DP will fit the 2.2L and the 2.4L
THe outlet flange we install on the DP we normally provide the same size gasket. I.E. 3" exhaust flange = 3" gasket. If you are bolting a 3" dp to a 2.5" exhaust you would use a 2.5" gasket as the 3" gasket would be too big for the 2.5" pipe. If people request a 2.5" flange on the 3" DP we can that also so there is no gasket issue. If your looking to go full 3" in the future then order the standard 3" dp and just use a 2.5" gasket which will work fine.
Without cat is illegal in all states (US not sure as to CANADA) , as it is a fedral law that you cannot remove a factory installed catalytic converter. They do produce greater hp gains as they are the most free flowing thing you can get , normally about 2-4hp over a high flow cat.
Without Cat WILL throw a check engine Light and will not pass most states Inspections
Without Cat = raspier sound of exhaust than with cat

With high flow cat will still pass most states emmisions and visual inspections, most of the time not trip any check engine lights .

distillion
08-21-2006, 08:53 PM
so for a set up like a 2.5 dp on the gmpp catback, its just straight foward when it comes to the gaskets which you guys provide, correct?

This thread was just created to gauge interest so I could have all the leg work done for you to come up with a price. As far as going through all the posts to come up with who's getting what is a task and a half. Give me untill tomorrow to do that. Most of the orders are 2.5" with CATs. Honestly distillion I would take care of all the engine mods you plan on doing and then tune when you are 100% done moding. That's your best bet. So if you are not done moding after this exhaust you should wait untill you are done moding. :guns:

Thanks bro but no pre-made tunes for me. I need someone who has a dyno and tunes. The dyno shop I went to doesn't tune GM vehicles. If cobalt-addiction made these pre-made tune flashes they can tune a car in person too right?

yes we have a full garage/shop and laptop/software, everything we need to tune. have been doing the tunes usually end of the weeks at the shop for those who make appointments to come in and have it done since kenny is busy with orders etc. making appointments/ letting him know your coming is important.
we also have a dyno right now the road..literally right around the corner.
paul and i have discussed the possibility of a tune/ dyno bbq day...problem is i work out in Riverhead and have no time to get out to deer park to the Dyno shop before they close so really get into it with the owner and see how much is costs for a full day.
right now kenny is pretty booked solid trying to get the balt up and running for funk flex in about 2 and a half weeks...and then our schedules should clear out a little more and thats when i would like to set something up...also the weather wont be so goddamn hot. hmmm i think i will make an interest poll...see what people think. eh

I'm a little confused... just a little... not a lot. I was just on the Cobalt-Addiction Web Site and they had the GMP Exhaust listed as being 2.25" and I know Stock is 2.5". Now, I know they there are advantages to dropping the size, especially if the 2.25" is Highflow... that sort of thing. So... to finally get to the point... is that a typo and the size is actually 2.5" or is the GMP exhaust size actually 2.25"? I WAS thinking about getting it, but I definately wanted a 2.5" or 3" exhaust.

06blackg85ss
08-22-2006, 03:52 PM
yeah.. gmpp exhaust is a full 2.25 piping but is less restictive than the stock 2.5 .... wierd but true.... also the stock goes to 2.25 by the axle anyway. If you want to wait... I know Kenny is designing a 2.5 and 3" exhaust for the cobalts.. (he's finishing Donna's car up so he's a little backed up) I'm waiting on it myself. I wouldn't use anything else...

3.0 w/o cat - $199.99 free shipping USA (save $30.00) / $219.99 usd shipped to CANADA
