View Full Version : CA headers IN STOCK Ready to SHIP ..BLOWOUT!
badg1rl 09-18-2006, 06:17 PM Will Fit Chevy Cobalt with 2.2L L61(without EGR), 2.0 L LSJ Supercharged, or 2.4L VVT LE5 . The design is a 4-1 with equal length, 1.7" diameter tubes. The best part is that it is all stainless steel. We include new exhaust gaskets for the engine and down pipe. We use 3D computer aided design for all of our work to guarantee good fit. We will warranty the header for life for any performance issues (leakage, warpage, fit) but do not warrant the paint. We have showed 8 - 10 hp gains of these on bone stock 2.4L cobalts . So the 2.0L should have increased gains. These are our initial run with a 2.25" stock size collector that we are BLOWING OUT AT A ONE TIME LOW PRICE!!!! Still Gains Alot of Horsepower and retains a good torque curve do to the smaller collector!!!!
Our manufacturer made the collector flanges smaller than we requested so we have to sell these before we can do our next run with the larger collector size for the 2.0L supercharged or turbo cars running 3" all the way back . We have tested these on the 2.0L supercharged with the 3" all the way back and have had great results . They keep the low end torque but still have a great seat of the pants gain. We have not gotten a dyno run on these headers yet so if someone gets a dyno run done we can reimburse them some money for the results. We have to sell these out before we can offer the 3" versions but i dont think it will be a problem as these have just as much gains as any other header on the market currently , the smaller collector will just change the torque and hp ranges.
We are BLOWING these out for a one time low price of $219.99 shipped in the US. $19.99 extra shipped to Canada. You cannot go wrong with these prices.

patathSS 09-18-2006, 06:20 PM Do you know what these will flow CFM wise?
wdsoccer 09-18-2006, 06:21 PM will this work on a 2005 Cobalt LS 2.2l? Any ideas on the gains that i would see with the header if i have a magnaflow catback also?
Cobalt-Addiction 09-18-2006, 06:27 PM Sorry , i didnt realize Donna's name was logged into my work computer. I should have made that post under mine , but it doesnt matter . Anyway,
It will fit the 2.2L that doesnt have the egr pipe along the second runner of the header flange.
No we dont know the CFM flow rate currently but it is more than the GMP and most likely about the same as the other headers available only ours is fully stainless steel and at a extremely low price because of us wanting to blow this header out and get the new one produced.
sushidog 09-18-2006, 11:03 PM Holy Shiite Batman!
I just ordered mine. Stainless, lifetime warranty, equal length 1.7" tubes, 8-10 hp on a stock 2.4, great low-end torque - anyone with a n/a motor would have to be nuts to pass on this deal.
carbombss 09-18-2006, 11:21 PM just ordered :twothumbs
CTCOBALTSSS 09-18-2006, 11:23 PM I just ordered my header. Can't friggin wait! I already have the XTC downpipe and GM cat back just sitting downstairs waiting. :guns:
BooSSted 09-19-2006, 02:43 AM Awesome price but bad timing for me. I think I would rather wait for the 3" anyways!! Header looks good
g5mike 09-19-2006, 03:47 AM Bad timing for me,anybody want to oder me one:lol: Can you get a painted header coated(ceramic)?
Nuclear 09-19-2006, 03:51 AM looks really sweet
wdsoccer 09-19-2006, 11:16 AM what is the egr pipe? how do i know if my 2.2l has an egr pipe?
wdsoccer 09-19-2006, 12:31 PM Common guys i need to know if it fits so that i can order one or not.
CTCOBALTSSS 09-19-2006, 12:35 PM Common guys i need to know if it fits so that i can order one or not.
Yeah bro it fits the 2.2 no problem. :twothumbs
wdsoccer 09-19-2006, 12:40 PM whats the deal with the egr pipe and what is it?
Cobalt-Addiction 09-19-2006, 01:25 PM whats the deal with the egr pipe and what is it?
Some of the 2.2L headers have this port in the header for emmisions . It might be 06+ because from what we have seen 05 dont this , but not 100% sure yet . So anyone with a 2.2L please check for this port .....it will have a tube coming out of it and you can see it from the top of the motor even with the heat shield on. In the second pic it is the silver corragated tube that is attached to the port. This is a pic from the driverside of the engine in the rear. If you have that silver tube than this header is NOT for you .
2.0L and 2.4L does not have this !!!!
johnkb8 09-19-2006, 01:34 PM man that stock header looks cheap
wdsoccer 09-19-2006, 01:35 PM how many headers do yall have?
1SloBowtie 09-19-2006, 07:21 PM Is there any need to ceramic coat this header, or will it last regardless? Also how are the heat issues in the engine bay, if any? I know with the Pacesetter everyone says get the ceramic as opposed to the black painted, that's why I ask.
*EDIT*
For other 2.2 owners, my 06 was manufactured 08/05 and I do not have the EGR...
06blackg85ss 09-19-2006, 07:23 PM pacesetter isn't stainless steel.... this one so far is good no rusting or anything. definatley feel an increase in power
elmstreet 09-19-2006, 07:45 PM get the new header produced? what's going to be different and how long is this price going on for
1SloBowtie 09-19-2006, 07:49 PM Just ordered mine!!! :cssNET:
06blackg85ss 09-19-2006, 08:42 PM price is until they sell this batch.... I think they have 8 left at the shop with about 20 more on the way
Brandon97Z 09-19-2006, 09:24 PM Hoping to order by the end of the week.
1SloBowtie 09-19-2006, 10:20 PM Will it make a huge difference in regards to heat since this header isnt ceramic coated? And can the heat shield be used if there is a significant more amount of heat?
iLLmaTic3s 09-19-2006, 11:35 PM hahah nice pic of my car kenny...im thinkin of maybe puttin it on my car..im not sure if u know..but im gonna try to put on pauls stock ss catback. its a 2.5" cat back compared to my 1.75..yeah no flow on those things. from wut i understand its all bolt on..u said if the 2.2 has the silver pipin in thepic it wont work.. my car is a 05. also did u see the video of me vs. that c6 vette. if u need a better pic of my car..let me know, get at me soon

CTCOBALTSSS 09-20-2006, 05:20 PM I just received my CA header. Damn that was the fastest shipping EVER!
It will be installed by Tuesday. I'll do up a quick write-up then!
Thanks Kenny, you're the man! Four thumbs up! :twothumbs :twothumbs
1SloBowtie 09-20-2006, 06:06 PM I wish another 2.2 owner already had this installed so I knew what to expect. Oh well, guess I'll be the first :)
bamfnss 09-20-2006, 06:51 PM sent you a pm with some questions
D4u2s0t 09-20-2006, 06:58 PM Well Im about 2 seconds away from jumping on the band wagon...:twothumbs
When was your car manufactured?
not sure off the top of my head... but it's an 06 and i got it this past november...
1SloBowtie 09-20-2006, 07:42 PM not sure off the top of my head... but it's an 06 and i got it this past november...
I bought mine in Nov as well. Check the drivers door sil, on the back, where the latch is, you'll see a mfr'd date on the sticker. Mine is 08/05 and I dont have the air injection/EGR.
spencer 09-20-2006, 07:50 PM 8-10hp on the 2.4L thats very tempting i think that might set my intake back again lol
CTCOBALTSSS 09-20-2006, 07:55 PM 8-10hp on the 2.4L thats very tempting i think that might set my intake back again lol
Get the header bro, it's an intro price so hop on it. Wait for an intake group buy or ask a vendor if they can start one when you're ready.
1SloBowtie 09-20-2006, 09:36 PM Hmmm, if it's 8-10 for the 2.4, it'll prob be minimal for the 2.2. I hope it's worth it, hopefully mated with my intake/cat-back, it will be...
carbombss 09-20-2006, 11:30 PM mine was supposed to be here today .......damn ups :thumbsdow hopefully it will b here tomm
spencer 09-20-2006, 11:56 PM how much longer is this group buy price going to be in effect?
1SloBowtie 09-21-2006, 12:08 AM how much longer is this group buy price going to be in effect?
It's not a GB price. Their maker made the collector @ 2.25 in diameter, when they wanted it bigger. So before they can start making the header w/ the bigger collector, they have to sell these, which is why the price is being called a "BLOWOUT PRICE". I imagine this price will only be good until they sell all of the headers from their first batch...
bigd2114 09-21-2006, 12:28 AM this is the only one that will fit on the stock exaust right becuase the 3" wont right?
spencer 09-21-2006, 01:53 AM is the 2.25" ok on a 2.4L or would it be better to wait for the 3"
rally 09-21-2006, 02:07 AM With the 2.4L go with the 2.25, going 3" without forced induction will hurt performance
1SloBowtie 09-21-2006, 07:20 PM this is the only one that will fit on the stock exaust right becuase the 3" wont right?
All the shorty headers will work on all models of the Balt. This one is more practical for the 2.2 because the stock collector is 2 or 2.25" and the CA header collector is 2.25". It would be pointless to have a header with a 3" collector on a 2.2. I am waiting on mine to be delivered and will post a review in 2.2 performance when I get it on...
carbombss 09-21-2006, 07:29 PM i just put mine on my sc an wow it really wakes it up at higher rpms even with smaller collector there is a very nice gain in power
1SloBowtie 09-21-2006, 07:30 PM i just put mine on my sc an wow it really wakes it up at higher rpms even with smaller collector there is a very nice gain in power
Being as I have the 2.2, Im a little worried about how much I may/ may not gain...
carbombss 09-21-2006, 07:35 PM Being as I have the 2.2, Im a little worried about how much I may/ may not gain...
understandable just wait for dyno #

It should mate well if you are only going with a 2.25" exhaust....
CTCOBALTSSS 09-22-2006, 11:28 AM It should mate well if you are only going with a 2.25" exhaust....
Yeah it should be a nice setup. I just got even better news. It gets installed Sunday.
I'll do a write up i'm thinking Tuesday or so.
1SloBowtie 09-22-2006, 01:02 PM I still dont have a tracking number though. All I have is some USPS refrence # that says "electronic shipping information recieved". Wonder what the deal is?
06blackg85ss 09-22-2006, 01:13 PM USPS SUCKS!!!! I hate their shipping info.. it is always way off... I have a disputed lost package out and it still shows enroute (I sent it to someone) plus one that was delivered last week still shows as shipping notification rec.
1SloBowtie 09-23-2006, 03:35 AM Well I got mine today (22nd) but the paint was already chipped. Not sure if I care cuz I may be getting it ceramic coated, but it is stainless, so I may just slap it on. I havent decided yet. I can get it coated for $125. Think it'll make that much of a difference in heat if I dont???
wdsoccer 09-23-2006, 09:31 PM i sent a money order to cobalt-addiction on friday to order their header. cant wait till it comes in
1SloBowtie 09-23-2006, 10:58 PM i sent a money order to cobalt-addiction on friday to order their header. cant wait till it comes in
I decided to go ahead and slap mine on. Well ATTEMPT to anyway. All the the nuts that connect the stocker to the block were very easy to take off. The 3 that connect the stocker to the downpipe were a completely different story. I ran out of sunlight so I have to wait until tomorrow to get some penetrating lubricant to loosen those three nuts. Once it's on I'll do a writeup on it. I do know you'll need a 1/2 deepwell 6 point socket, 3in extention w/ratchet, and a 15mm wrench to get everything taken apart....
1SloBowtie 09-26-2006, 08:43 PM You guys that already have your CA header installed, can you take some pics of it? Im just curious of how it looks. Thanks.
FRIARPOP 09-26-2006, 09:05 PM wish i wouldnt have jumped on teh gmpp manifold deal, but oh well, they are both great. And i get to keep my warrenty.

Any fitment issues? Temp increases? Get close to any other parts?
06blackg85ss 09-27-2006, 08:39 AM I just installed one last night... took me about 35-45 minutes... real simple
CTCOBALTSSS 09-27-2006, 09:26 AM Any fitment issues? Temp increases? Get close to any other parts?
No man actually the temps are exactly the same. I don't know if it's the cooler weather but the temps are perfect. No fitment issues at all. There isn't realy anything close to the header at all. We got lucky with these cars. Everything is great and it sounds kick ass. Real deeeeeeep! :twothumbs in my book.
06blackg85ss 09-27-2006, 09:37 AM Oh yeah... I did one on a stock exhaust last night with a hollowed out cat.... sounds pretty damn good
wdsoccer 10-02-2006, 05:28 PM Just got my CA headers today and they look awesome. I only have one problem. I dont know how to install them. Can someone PM me or post it here on installing the header.
Should i use heat wrap and wrap the headers? or is it fine to install it without heat wrapping it?
Thanks
sushidog 10-02-2006, 06:46 PM Thy this link. it may help.

Also before you put it on, you might want to check out my last post here.

Do not wrap the header. It could cause it to overheat and crack. Plus it's not needed.
wdsoccer 10-02-2006, 09:55 PM the heat shields come off first. i believe 4 bolts. there are three bolts on the downpipe flange and 10 bolts on the header. undo the 3 first, then the header. drop it down under the car, then feed the new one up. Most or all of the bolts can be reached from on top. Just use a socket and a ratchet. It took me about 2.5 hours, and I never have done anything like it before. so thats pretty much it? I went to a muffler shop and they said the same thing you said
Do not wrap the header. It could cause it to overheat and crack. Plus it's not needed. he said that it causes unwanted heat. that i want the heat out of there.
Brandon97Z 10-16-2006, 10:03 PM You guys till have these available? Want to order tommorow just figured i'd make a post before i order
06blackg85ss 10-16-2006, 10:14 PM they did when I was there on friday... just e-mail him... sales@cobalt-addiction.com ...

06COBALT_LS 10-23-2006, 12:13 PM for this header does it involve any cutting/welding or is it basically bolt on. ihave a 2.2 will my car have the same gains as the 2.4? im goin to get magna flow with it. is that a good combo for exhaust.
wdsoccer 10-23-2006, 04:28 PM for this header does it involve any cutting/welding or is it basically bolt on. ihave a 2.2 will my car have the same gains as the 2.4? im goin to get magna flow with it. is that a good combo for exhaust.
It is a direct bolt on. I bought one for my 2.2l and i have a magnaflow catback. The header that cobalt-addiction might not fit on your 2.2l. the one i bought didnt fit. (it was hitting the coolant pipe) cobalt-addiction is in the process of making new headers that will clear the coolant pipe and be a direct bolt on. Kenny said that the new header should be available in about 4-5 weeks. Ill keep everyone posted when i find something out.
Floridas Finest SS 11-14-2006, 04:58 PM header with 3" collector yet?
06blackg85ss 11-15-2006, 05:05 PM not as of yet.... soon though soon... almost sold out of the 2.5 ones
RacerX83 12-25-2006, 03:19 AM Any body know where to get a sound clip of the 2.25" header with stock exhaust on a 2.4L? Or if the header will make any kind of sound difference with stock exhaust?
