I picked up my 2.5' CA DP w/hi flow cat on friday, installed on saturday, put about 180 miles on sunday... install was easy enough, one of the damn bolts on the stock downpipe wouldnt' come off for NOTHING, me and my father wasted a good hour on that bolt...
First Pro was that it was very, very light compared to stock. My stock downpipe did however have 2 cats on it, and i'm sure that adds a good chunk of weight.
Once the stock piece was off, installation was simple, as you would expect. I had one issue, which I think was due to the cold weather, and that was that there was a good 2 inch gap between the downpipe and the exhuast. Got a C-Clamp, closed it up no problem though. Other than that, went together in about 5 minutes.
First impression after starting the car was "Holy shit, that's loud". I also have a pacesetter catback. It was extremely loud. Took it for a cruise around the block, set off a car alarm, , and noticed some squeaking, like a rubbing sound. It wasn't the downpipe, fitment was perfect. The extra vibration required me to pry up the heatshield right behind the muffler. Fixed that, went for another cruise, sounded much better.
As far as sound, I absolutely LOVE it up untill about 3k rpms... After that, it gets very raspy. I'm not sure if it has to do with the Cat breaking in, but it has started to sound a lot better. I haven't really gotten on it yet, but i did notice that there is a slight loss of low end power. There is, however, noticeable stronger high end. I pulled from 60-80mph at about 2400-2500 rpm, which i wasn't able to do before.
Overall, I love the downpipe, love the sound (up till 3krpms, for now!) and will update in a few days to see if it has mellowed out at all. I did go WOT for a few seconds today, and there was almost zero rasp compared to yesterday, so hopefully that will get a little better. Other than that, I love it so far! :cssNET:
